Wolfstride is one of the “best games from 20xx” you missed, “hidden gems you need to play before you die” and all that. It is also the previous game by Ota Imon, the studio behind Zet Zillions.
You don't need to play Wolfstride to enjoy Zet Zillions, but if you want extra credit* (and extra FUN), we recommend you give it a try, as you'll learn more about Zet Zillion's universe.

The art and presentation are great but it is wasted on a game that for the most part feels unfinished. The game is ruined by bugs and bad design choices including but not limited to:

The fusion mechanic being poorly explained and what cards fuse into what being a archaic mystery until you actually add them to your deck. This makes it hard to gauge what the consequences of putting a card in your deck could be until you actually pick it - kind of important that this would not be the case if you are making a roguelike deckbuilder.
Fights sometimes keep going even after all enemies are defeated.
The game randomly deciding whether cards are discarded at the end of the turn or not on a fight by fight basis.
Cheap UI design and poor menu controls, together with other gameplay issues making the game tiresome to play.
It feels like for whatever reason the production of this was rushed and the end product suffers a lot because of it.2 found this helpful
this game is an interesting one. its very cheap for how much is in it, but whats in it isnt great, the art and voice acting i like and its quite a charming game but the gameplay is choppy. alot of cards feel useless and dont have good explanations so it feels trail and error rather than using logic and deduction. the relics don't feel like they make an impact on the game, rather they are nice bonuses. if your looking for a good card game i wouldn't buy it but if you want to play something new, i guess this game could scratch an ich.2 found this helpful
One of my favorite art styles for a game I've played. So many cool design choices are seen in the planets, bosses, etc. The sense of scale is shown well too. It feels epic fighting something 1000x larger than you. The art mixed with the amazing voice acting really makes it feel like a game woven into an animated show (music was pretty good too). The story was also surprisingly well-done. Although it involves a lot of "wanting to destroy the universe", the strength of the main cast and the villains makes each story segment fun and intriguing to experience. I loved doing random stuff with the main crew, and my focus intensified whenever
Trash Zero
or
Nix
showed up. Each character was tropey, but it made them all the more lovable. Also
Trash Zero
especially was such a cool-ass villain (some insane voice acting and a captivating back story made for such a sick presence). Learning more about the characters and world built up a truly memorable setting. The gameplay was definitely addicting, but I'd say it was my least favorite part of the experience. Not to say it's bad (it's still fun), but everything else was just so goo…
After successfully beating the game, I can confidently say that Zet Zillions is a breath of fresh air for the genre. If you are tired of standard, repetitive card games, this game absolutely rules with its insane card variety, deep fusion systems, and hyper-aggressive mechanics that let you build completely broken decks. The gameplay loop of weaponizing planet populations and slamming massive monsters into enemies is incredibly addictive, especially when combined with its vibrant, quirky retro-anime art style and punchy animations. Once your deck synergy finally "clicks" in the late game, the power trip is immensely rewarding all the way to the final boss. It’s a fast-paced, stylish masterpiece that delivers tons of strategic depth and replayability!
It's fun and charming well being an actual decent card game.
Play as anime inspired Nazi space conquers trapped in a hell of their own making, including planets with faces and living ♥♥♥♥ balls in space. Amazing art style and generally good design in gameplay, a bit lacking after a while with its flaws showing quickly. Still, its a pretty unique game all on its own and well worth the look.
