About Zof

About Zof

Immerse yourself in a picturesque world of puzzling devices. Discover how things work and go deeper into the game. The solutions are simple, but hidden more and more carefully as you progress. Zof is not a pushover. You might get frustrated, you'll probably get stuck, but you'll definitely feel great when you figure it out.

No story, no searching for clues, no hand holding. Zof relies on falling into a new mindset, not struggling with difficult concepts.

Not sure?

Try the free demo. You'll find puzzlement, exasperation and elation in the same proportions as the rest of the game. So it's a good guide.

Notes

If you do get stuck, you can always use the menu to go back home and try something different.

Vsync is in the screen settings menu.

There is a hint guide in the community section ( use at your peril ):

A small number of puzzles use sound.

Zof is a quietly demanding first-person puzzle experience that places intellectual curiosity above narrative exposition, inviting players into a collection of mysterious spaces where logic, observation, and patience are the only real guides. Developed and published by Pete Wilkins, the game deliberately avoids tutorials, dialogue, or story framing, choosing instead to let its environments and mechanisms speak for themselves. From the very beginning, Zof makes it clear that it expects players to engage on its terms, rewarding careful thought and attentiveness rather than reflexes or trial-and-error brute force. The experience opens in a tranquil hub area, a windswept island that functions as both a visual anchor and a gateway to the game’s many puzzle realms. From here, players can access a wide variety of self-contained environments through portals, each presenting its own set of rules and challenges. These locations are deliberately modular, with no inventory management or cross-area dependencies, allowing each puzzle space to exist as a focused mental exercise. This structure gives the game a sense of freedom, as players are rarely forced down a single path and can move on to an…

This is the example of "no story is always better than a poor story". You find yourself stranded on an island. No tutorial. No explanations. Go figure it out yourself. I like that. Puzzles are of a good enough variety, mostly requiring observation, sometimes logic. a couple are pretty annoying though, mostly due to the tricky controls. Graphics are cute. It´s no Myst nor Rhem, but overall a pleasant experience.

Possibly one of the best first-person puzzle games I've played as of recent.

ZoF is a game that puzzle-adventure veterans can appreciate, even if it sometimes gets in its own way. Speaking as someone who has played the genre across its full spectrum—from the atmospheric classics like Myst to the intricate labyrinths of Rhem and Schizm, all the way to experimental experiences like Antichamber—ZoF offers plenty of moments worth savoring, while also revealing a few structural cracks. Visual and atmospheric strengths ZoF is at its best when you simply stand still and look. The visual presentation is striking, polished, and inviting—crafted with enough care to make each environment immediately appealing. The sound design takes a restrained, minimalist approach, which actually complements the experience: it leaves space to think, observe, and immerse yourself in the act of puzzling without unnecessary distraction. A fragmented world with little connective tissue One of ZoF’s more noticeable weaknesses is its lack of cohesive world-building. The individual areas are interesting on their own, but as a whole they feel too heterogeneous, almost as if they belong to entirely different projects stitched together. There is no real overarching story, mytholog…

A short but great puzzle game! Had a great variety of puzzles inside, mostly involving some trick or interpretation you needed to understand to figure out how the puzzle works, but I enjoy that sort of thing. The environments are gorgeous too in my opinion. Deffo worth trying the demo to see if you like it, I certainly did and liked the whole game too! ^w^
