When Edgar Allan Poe visits you, her tells you that you share a power he had in life: to see ghosts and communicate with them. You must look into two murder stories written by Poe, stories that harmed the investigation of the real-life murders from which they were inspired. Discovering the real murderers will right Poe's wrongs, unshackling him and allowing his spirit to move on. In each area you visit, you will have to do a hidden object puzzle: you face a screenful of clutter and objects places haphazardly, and you're supplied with a list of specific items to find. You can click on any object in your list to be shown the silhouette of the object in question, helping you find it. Each of them also has a raven, which, when found, gives you a hint point. One of the earlier HOGs that aged badly. There is no narration, the display ratio is like 640x480 and blown up to fullscreen, it is really hard to make out any objects in the search scenes. The puzzle and story presentation is barebon at best. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this HOG.

This version of the game is not bad, however I can't enter full screen mode with this game for whatever reason would give it a 9 out of 10

Love it! Graphics are a bit dated, some HO scenes were hard to decipher, and no widescreen, but excellent story and atmosphere. Recommend!

It’s FINE. For an HOG, it’s FINE. There’s no infuriating navigation, just hidden object scenes, and a few very easy puzzles to let them breath. A few objects look like indistinguishable blobs, but that’s what the lantern is for. Also, real cute with the non-indicative names. “Grooms hair?” “Propels boat?” “Blouse fastener?!” That last one is a button, by the way. It's not awful; if you like HOGs, you might like it. The story is slow and formulaic, yet also all over the place with the constant setting shifts, but the game's easy. I know it’s my fault for letting these games clog up my backlog, but I’m still clinging on to a hope of hopes that I can find one with true beauty or wit. For this particular title, I just need to let it go, move on. ...also, just to be even more petty, I’d like to point out that Boss Tweed was 26 when Poe died, an undistinguished volunteer firefighter in New York, 185 miles away from Poe in Baltimore, hardly the white-bearded politico depicted here.
