It'll appeal to a certain crowd, definition of cult classic. The kinda game you play because it's interesting vs. giving a mind blowing level of quality. Known as a ♥♥♥♥ game in Japan but it's got fans (US reviews at the time were positive though). What gives it a fanbase, even in Japan, is the weirdness of it. Sure you're paying for ROMs, but if you're into these kinda niche games this is worth getting on a sale. Mechanics are weird, progression is weird, story is weird, graphics range from great to mediocre, soundtracks amazing, and the ending is hilarious. Gameplay and graphics aren't completely polished, but overall decent considering what it provides as a shmup: in the sea of the genre its nice to have something that plays and looks like nothing else. The soundtracks worth a listen. It's a fascinating little game, and this is a good package if you find it on sale ($12 is a lot for what you're getting).

Good port, crap game(s). You slide all over the place, sometimes you barely take any damage and sometimes you die instantly, every projectile is the exact same color regardless of where it came from, and stuff you would think is just in the background can actually hurt you. I guess some props have to be given to CITY CONNECTION for making this port, but on the other hand who exactly is this for? If you REALLY need to play these games, please save your money and just emulate them.

This game's awesome, super weird but fun. I rented this back in like 1992 when I was a kid and didn't really know how to play it but I bought it out of nostalgia and it's a lot of fun now that I can handle a bit of a challenge. Cool graphics for NES, feel like it really pushes the limits of the console. Interesting sound effects and music. It is super hard though, every time I think I'm getting the hang of it, it get's harder. Definitely recommend to any 8bit era or NES fans out there. One of my favourite games on the NES.

Before I begin, I need to say that this recommendation has a very big “if” attached to it. Some people have had problems getting the game to work properly, with some not even having the game boot up. Even the Steam Deck apparently has a lot of problems playing it. I got lucky, and the game runs with little issue for me on my laptop, but give this a test run before two weeks pass. If it works, great! If it doesn’t work, ask for a refund and buy the Switch version instead, which is guaranteed to work by virtue of being a console game. Onto the game itself, [i]Zombie Nation[/i] is a highly expensive NES shoot 'em up where you play as a giant zombie head that blows up buildings and helicopters by spitting and launching his eyes at them. Yeah, it was the 90s. It’s a technical showpiece for the system, with detailed sprites and a complex soundtrack that makes use of a few sound samples. It’s not the best shooter on the system; your head has some inertia, especially when playing Hard difficulty, and it’s way too easy to have your health drain by flying into a [i]*checks notes*[/i] "magnetic ray", but the absurdity of it all makes it worth a look. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined this game getting a port of any kind. This game is effed up, two thumbs up!

Abarenbo Tengu is a classic shooting game. Player can destroy a lot of things in the scene. The Special option includes a level editor mode and a sound test screen.
