About Weakless

They say friendship comes about when two people complement each other. In Weakless, this is not just a mere observation about interactions, it’s a very palpable thing. Lead two characters – one without the sense of hearing, the other with no sense of vision – through a beautiful, organic, fantasy world filled with challenging puzzles. Use the extraordinary set of skills they’ve developed because of their disabilities, and witness the growing bond between these two very remarkable companions.

The beauty of a true friendship.

In Weakless you can control only one character at a time, which means you can’t use the senses of both of them simultaneously. Because of this, you get a unique perspective on how differently they perceive the world around them and at the same time how the two support and complement each other. Deaf being his usual “whizz in a pinny” brings joy to the slightly defensive and introverted Blind. While Blind on the other hand, with the power of his calmness, takes care of the ubiquitous Deaf.

Find strengths in your weaknesses.

In our world, people with no vision or hearing often have other, sharper, senses. The same is true for Weavelings. Discover the extraordinary set of skills your heroes have, and prove to the world that what’s always been considered a weakness can, in fact, be a mighty advantage.

Fairytale-like world.

The game takes place in a world full of wonderful, distinctive landscapes. Your path will lead through caves full of glowing fungi, natural basins, forgotten ruins and more. Traveling through this extraordinary world will lead the Weavelings to experience the adventure of their lifetime and discover the mysterious past that led to their home teetering on the edge of destruction.

Resin is your source of life.

Protect the village and the Weavelings' civilization by restoring the steady flow of Resin, the life energy for every living creature in this world. Save the land from the advancing Rot.

In Weakless you will:

 • Follow the story of an unlikely friendship that develops wordlessly between the stoic Blind One and the energetic Deaf One;
 • Peek into the Deaf One’s sketchbook and gain a unique insight to what he thinks about this whole ordeal;
 • Enter the beautiful, organic, bioluminescent world of Weavelings, filled with the curious life forms and mysteries of a bygone civilization waiting to be uncovered;
 • Get a glimpse of the artistic vision of how visually impaired and hearing-impaired people perceive the world;
 • Become a part of non-trivial narratives and satisfying exploration enriched with arcade puzzle elements;
 • Experience stunning music composed on instruments from all around the world, such as the marimba, rav vast or udu.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's beautiful art style, creative concept of playing as two complementary characters with different abilities, and atmospheric world-building, though they consistently criticize its short length and slow character movement as not justifying the full price. The story and lore feel underdeveloped, with hints at deeper narrative that never fully materialize, making the game best suited for budget purchases around $3-5 rather than at full price.

Not bad at all! A simple, pretty little puzzle platformer with two interesting protagonists and a lovely sense of environmental aesthetics. You play as both a tall, strong blind creature and a short, deaf creature (look, they don't really have a name for their species as far as I can tell) whom you will switch between with a button push; one can push and pull things as well as play musical instruments (just a collectible; it contributes nothing to the gameplay) and the other can beam energy to activate certain objects as well as sketch and draw scenes/landscapes/characters (again, it's just a form of collectible that has zero gameplay impact). Together you will navigate a strange jungle world full of toxic pollution and environmental puzzles (and later physical puzzles in the ruins of cities) attempting to.......destroy the source of the pollution? Maybe? Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of the game is its weak narrative. So, positives: It's colourful (when you're playing as the deaf creature.....the blind creature sees in black and white) and quite pretty, and the gameplay is enjoyable. The puzzles are also relatively straight-forward and you probably won't have t…

An obvious passion project, seeking to step into the trail blazed by such gems of codependent NPCs as The Lost Vikings, and ending up in Cleveland. Pros: * Interesting worldbuilding. * Good concept. One char is blind except echo-location & is strong, the other is mostly deaf and can climb things. Cons: * Both chars move at a snail's pace. * Game is shoooooooooort. Not worth full price. * Lore (eg: characters' relation to the mural NPCs) is hinted at, but never explained. NOTE: * HUGE LONG-LASTING FLASHES OF LIGHT at the end level. TL;DR: If love puzzles and can snag it for ~$4-5, worth it; else, skip. Edit: Fixed a typo.

Weakless is a gentle and imaginative puzzle adventure that turns the differences between its two protagonists into the foundation of both its gameplay and storytelling. Developed by Punk Notion and published by Anshar Publishing, the game follows two wooden creatures called Weavelings, one blind and the other deaf. Instead of presenting their disabilities merely as narrative details, the game explores how each character experiences the surrounding world differently and how their individual abilities allow them to compensate for what the other cannot perceive. This creates an adventure centered on cooperation, friendship, and the idea that a perceived weakness can become a different kind of strength. Gameplay revolves around switching between the Blind One and the Deaf One while exploring an organic fantasy world and solving environmental puzzles. Because only one character is controlled at a time, changing characters effectively changes your perspective on the environment. Certain clues and interactions become easier to understand through one Weaveling than the other, encouraging players to think about their surroundings from two different sensory viewpoints. It is a clever concep…
Conclusion—6/10
Would I buy it while discounted to around $5? Yes, 100%. Would I buy it while discounted to around $10? I'd have to think about it but probably yes. Would I buy it at full price? No. It's a unique experience but it's short (and sweet). The art style and sound design are amazing; it's all quite beautiful. However, I just didn't find the story interesting enough to save it from a lackluster replay value and fun. It was enjoyable at first but the mechanics did start to get old, especially with how slow you move. The last act is great and really ties things together, but I don't think I could justify a higher rating.
