Return to Castle Wolfenstein

A decent FPS classic with a wacky, easy to follow story (this being a Wolfenstein game after all). Would appreciate it if I had played this when I was younger. A few minor gripes include being the dated, but nostalgic UI, the saving system can be a bit janky and sometimes there are crashes. Also not super brutal and gory as later games. Recommended 8/10, a ok treat for WWII FPS enjoyers. Get RealRTCW for peak experience.

OK, so u want to read a review for one of the greatest FPS games of all time? I got it. RTCW was a disc edition, first i saw it in 2003, in my father's office. And he was playing the 4 mission, where game is starting to give you a hard time with all... let's say demonic stuff. I personally just beat it on normal, and i spend 2 weeks to beat it ! But i'm happy as ♥♥♥♥ that i finally beat sherevre of my childhood. And if you, reading this, loving FPS games and still didn't played this game, where do you spending your free time ? GET YOUR ASS HERE !

The game is easy to learn and use, and you can reprogram buttons to your preference for easier game controls. The action and historical setting is very enjoyable, and the paranormal aspects are moody and fun.

WOW This game is fantastic and holds up 25 years later. I've been trying to make my way through a bunch of classic FPS games and this has been probably my favorite so far. The atmosphere, movement, shooting, and weapons are all top notch. If you're curious at all it's definitely worth the time and money. Some older titles like solder of fortune started as fun but outstayed their welcome. This was rock solid the entire way through. I played on the harder difficulty and had to engage enemies tactically than a modern game. This was fantastic and just what I wanted all except for one of the last missions where the enemies turned to hit scan machines and you couldn't even get the jump on them trying to prefire their positions. I had to save scum a touch, but it was just one misson. In general you can be killed very quickly by high level enemies or if you're flanked. If playing on a more moderate difficulty then it's much better balance of how aggressive you can be.

RtCW tries to combine several game mechanics, and in all of them it fails miserably. Story with cutscenes? Unbearable. Shooter? With limited ammo vs. overpowered enemies frustrating. Stealth? With overreacting and esp. hidden NPCs a disaster.
