King's Bounty: Dark Side

Да бывают и такие жемчужины выходят из под пера наших разрабов. Легенду о рыцаре играл еще школьником и плохо помню, знаю что не прошел. Вот принцесску не допрошел в стиме когда-то потому что там на ласт боссе отобрали имбодракончика. Здесь тоже всё гадал будет ли такая подстава от разрабов и таки да имбоприемы на ласт босса отобрали. Хотя ласт босс оказался лёгким довольно. Да и вообще игра ощущается намного легче прошлых, мб я конечно вырос в своих геймерзких скилах. Хех, без шансов. Текста здесь веселые, но я ловил себя на мысли будто бы писали примерно те же люди что и Санитаров подземелий, но без матов. "Третьего дня" в начале игры постоянно слышал, и Черныш этот еще. Так что такая забавная история, хотя и состоит в большенстве из фетч квестов. Но геймплей так затягивает что и пофиг в общем. Вот мегабоссов не хватает как в прошлых частях, и морских сражений, вроде все на островах, а битв на короблях было штуки 3 за всю игру. Короче игруха топ, и хорни контента навалом, сбор картин отдельное удовольствие. А Кармила вообще красотка жаль даже что так вышло

A great turn-based strategy game with a huge variety of armies, interesting units and plenty of synergies to experiment with. The story is also enjoyable, and the amount of content is impressive. I have three pet peeves with this one: 1. Quests are very, very annoying. For whatever reason, they are never straightforward. Ever. Instead of an interesting story and maybe giving a player the choice of doing things the right way or the lying conniving way (after all, you're the dark overlord, beware, maidens and peasants!), it's just 20 steps of going back and forth between the same places, and then gathering some flowers. Evil overlord. Going around gathering flowers. Orc quests in particular made my eye twitch, because it's endless back and forth, and you can't even threaten them when they ask you to run another mindless errand. 2. The maps are empty. Like, really empty. I got to continent Aranal (or whatever it's name), and it's just... huge forest. With two people, two shops. I'm at a loss to why there are so many buildings, if they all are closed or show "nobody's home" sign when clicked at. It just feels bad, to get a map of a huge continent only to discover there's nothing on it. And there are several continents like that, with barely anything beside generic enemies. Kinda kills the vibe of exploration. 3. Rage abilities are a bit underwhelming, especially AOEs. Sure…

King's Bounty: The Legend and Armored Princess are two of my all-time favourites and I simply can not recommend them enough. I've re-played both a couple of times and enjoyed every bit of them both times. Unfortunately this is not any near close to them, or even to Warriors of the North, which left me with mixed feelings, but I still mostly enjoyed it. Dark Side feels mostly as a wasted opportunity. The premise is not bad - playing the "bad guys", the gameplay is the same you remember from the previous versions, game mechanics are the same - you get the idea. But once you get into the game, it simply fails to deliver: ridiculous story, a huge and beautiful but basically empty world. Most of the side characters are simply souless and act absurdly when the story moves on. Quests which get totally bugged because of the mixed storilines, some of them are simply not possible to finish (like the Magical Department - I could not find a third copy of the Life Light scroll anywhere). The way the main story is developed is absolutely just an excuse of an actual script, not even resembling the previous games.
