Syberia 3

I’m a bit disappointed... I played through the two previous *Syberia* titles. - This game is over 34GB in size, yet the controls are an absolute disaster... Honestly, with a heavy heart, I cannot recommend it. The story seems engaging—the narrative smoothly introduces us to the cultural shifts in the Yukol way of life, as well as their adaptation to climate change and political upheaval. But the controls are atrocious and completely ruin the fun... I think it would have been better to return to the series' roots with point-to-point movement between locations; the current system of interconnected rooms really hurts playability. - After a hard week at work, I just want to enjoy a good narrative-driven puzzle game, but instead, I’m straining my neck trying to cope with unbalanced controls. The cursor often disappears on me. I finally gave up at a puzzle involving cranks—sometimes they turn normally, but then suddenly they spin in the opposite direction of my input... And the cherry on top? There’s no way to speed up or skip animations and dialogue... It’s a shame the game has lost its former playability and accessibility. If you are like me, dismissing all the negative reviews and hoping to play the game yourself for a different experience, let me save you some time and money and talk you out of it. Sadly, all the negative comments are spot‑on. I honestly cannot believe they released a game in this state. It is extremely buggy: you frequently lose your click arrow; the camera angle and perspective shifts are a huge disaster: you often find yourself completely lose track of the direction when camera angle shifts. Even directing the character to walk is a major problem. Interacting with objects is also SO HARD! You cannot open the menu with a mouse click either, you have to press ESC! The story and puzzles itself is fine. In short, I seriously had never played a game with worse gameplay:((((

Pros: - Inon Zur's work on the soundtrack is still as beautiful as ever, and now that it has more tracks compared to the previous games, the music feels a lot more dynamic during the game. - With the environments now being in 3D, the more detailed scenes are genuinely gorgeous and atmospheric. - Most puzzles are pretty well designed, didn't really feel the need to reach for a guide a lot of the time. Cons: - The game has an autosave feature, and frankly it's rather annoying where they placed the saves, I really wish they just allowed for regular saves. - Even years after release, this game is still quite broken. Multiple times I've had my mouse pointer just vanish, one time Kate just clipped right into an object I was looking at, and movement feels all manners of janky, ultimately feeling like the game is not made for mouse nor controller. - I personally found that the camera hidden key locations and objects on occasion. In the case of the puzzles, it's because some require you to pan the camera around without telling you that you can, and it's infrequent enough you can forget it's a mechanic. - The story is meant to have this epic tone to it, however it's let down by the fact tha…

If you like games that are pure story with a few simple puzzles, I suppose you could like it... I however could not really get into it...

I am beyond frustrated. NOT because of the horrible controls but because this game ends very abruptly in a way that makes it seem like you got the wrong ending. I googled it thinking surely I missed something but no its just that the real end requires you to buy "An automaton with a plan". This game is NOT complete, they put the ending behind DLC. I'll be watching someone play it on youtube to get the real ending. A metaphor for how this ends is like you went to the grocery store, filled your basket and got to checkout. ??? WAIT did you pay? did you get home? did you have to leave empty handed? no you're just at the checkout stand with zero explanation on what happens next. The Syberia 3 situation is CRAZY.... After playing Syberia 1 & 2 on the Original Xbox (yes, I know, so cool!) I jumped into Syberia 3 as I had all of them from a bundle I guess I bought a while ago. I can't express how much this game is such a step down from the previous two games. What happened here? The UI is atrocious, constant bugs making navigation frustrating, the voice acting is robotic and might as well be written from a prompt, and the customization on PC is non-existent, my options are "tiny window" or "fullscreen" and you can only change these settings before you start the game. You can't skip any conversations, and there's no manual saving, only auto-saves. Was this game made ironically with consoles in mind, does this play better with a controller, on a console? The puzzles are an exercise in frustration, having you do the tiniest things before you can accept the solution (e.g. having to open a hole, close a flap, move a box) - just extra clicks that are very unnecessary. Kate Walker deserves better....
