Syberia - Remastered

I'm ok with remastering Syberia, but the remastered doesn't bring up a well enough upgrade compared to the original. I don't mind the fact of leaving old cutscenes in, but Kate's model is totally different from what we see in those cutscenes. Plus remaking the whole game and still offering static screen with no camera control, a very slow walking/running animations, no way to double click to leave the screen...well, is not good enough. Instead of looking like a 25 years old game, now it looks like a 15 years old game. Also puzzles are way too easy right now, Syberia wasn't a difficult game, now it's impossible to get stuck. Plus in and here are little glitches, sometimes is very hard to leave a screen, otherwise you see a line on the ground marking the transition toward another screen, like in the university for the rocky part in which you rewind the train, which are very ugly to see.

After decades of some interest in the Syberia series, I decided to start with this one. It is typical of the point and click puzzle games. I have found a few I like, but this is not one of them. The problem is the obtuse illogical puzzles with no indication how to gather all the pieces. This requires one to look up walk throughs online where some kind souls have decided to help the rest of us. But then it is not a game but rather a simple follow the directions. The ambiance is excellent as is the feminine charms of the main character, namely me (in the game). One example will suffice. One must stamp an approval on an departure permission form. This is done by a stamping machine on the desk of the notary's office. OK, good so far. But then the stamping machine needs ink. Why is that ink not on the same desk as the stamping machine? It is in fact, in a desk in the attic of a house on the factory grounds which requires finding a key in the maze garden behind. There is absolutely no indication that is where one needs to go to find the ink. The other thing that really irritated me is that the game usually crashed just as I started to try and solve a puzzle. 20/100

When you realizing it was created 25 years ago (yes i realize it is remastered version) but still it was insane then and brings nostalgic now every time, Yes i feel they made it easier but, story and atmosphere is dragging you back all the way, and you are in.

Nice of them to make a remake of this and I'm hoping they make a remake of the follow up.

A well crafted remaster - I don't know if it's quite worth the asking price not on sale, but it's absolutley gorgeous looking, and it's only a remaster, not a reboot. It's faithful to the original in absolutely every single way. Compare it to, for example, the Tomb Raider remasters, and this obviously has much more time and love invested in it. They didn't update the FMV, but honestly - I kinda love how they're the original cutscenes because it just adds to the charm. They just brought it up to date to match The World Before - this game set the style for the entire series (not counting Amerzone here, and excepting Syberia 3 as an awful exception), so it was important to get any graphical update right. And they totally did.

Superior to the original in every conceivable way. Everything gets improved to the point where I'd rather play this again then ever touch the original. You can't give a remaster any more praise than that! 8/10
