After the first Syberia, I didn’t think playing an older game without a remaster would be a problem for me. But Syberia 2 made me realize how necessary those quality-of-life improvements actually were. Playing this without a guide feels like you either need to be a genius or you need to constantly backtrack, recheck places you already checked, and try random things until something works. The puzzles feel much more disconnected this time. Sometimes I knew what I needed to do, but if I missed even one tiny object somewhere, I basically had to go through every old area again. Even worse, sometimes the game doesn’t place an item somewhere until you trigger something else first, so getting stuck often means checking the entire map again just to see if the game secretly added something. Very fun. Love having my time gently stolen. That feeling is not only in the puzzles either. The story also keeps interrupting the main journey with random obstacles. To be fair, some of these parts were nice, but overall it started to feel like the game kept stopping us for pretty weak reasons. After a while, I just wanted to move forward without the journey being delayed every five minutes. The…

Needs a remaster. Crashed twice on me, so remember to save often: there is no auto-save. The graphics are dated and absolutely lovely. It's still worth playing today, but a remaster like teh first game got would be sweet.

"Who's the Most Annoying" is another blanket in a cold winter day that made the choice to do a contest against the first game in the series on which of them has the most annoying progression and characters. Hands down, Hans beats Oscar. I thought that robot was annoying. Boy, was I wrong. Hans is a childrish little prick that needs a good slapping. Grow the F up! But yet, I enjoy the atmosphere so much that it pulls me to finish the game despite wishing slow painful death on some of the people in it... From Wimp to Keen - No one is more wimpy than Hans.

This sequel is even worse than the first game. It's more of the same: trial-and-error puzzles with no hints, pixel hunting and lots of walking around (e.g. there is a puzzle where the reset button is 6 screens away). However, this time the story is even more retarded and nonsensical, with a thoroughly disappointing Yukol village and a lame ending. In addition to Oscar being useless, now we also have Hans, who is nothing more than a problem generator. They also added a cartoonishly evil villain that was totally unnecessary, and sometimes there is a low-budget cutscene about a private investigator following Kate but never getting close so it's pointless. I can't recommend this even if you liked the first Syberia.
