About Mashinky
Build and manage your transport empire by laying tracks, researching vehicles, and maximizing profits across procedurally generated maps in this blend of realistic 3D graphics and board game-like strategy. Master the satisfying puzzle of designing efficient networks with signals and junctions, then hop aboard your trains to watch your bustling transportation system come to life across seven historical eras from steam age to futuristic maglev.
Mashinky is a brand new transport strategy game from Czech developer Jan Zeleny. Zooming through gorgeous landscapes, utilising a traditional isometric construction mode and mastering a unique board game-like gameplay, you'll find yourself immersed in the task of building your own transport empire on a procedurally generated map.
The game is a unique blend of realistic graphics combined with an isometric construction mode and boardgame-like rules.
Players start the game in control of a transport company. They must lay tracks on difficult terrain, research and buy new vehicles, manage routes and compete against economic rules to make as much profit as possible by transporting passengers and various cargos. This makes for a challenging simulation game requiring the player to consider all elements of business to be successful.
Players can switch to an isometric construction mode inspired by the very best strategy classics. This is a grid based map where every change of traffic layout is a rewarding puzzle. You can build simple tracks connecting just two stations, or design sophisticated networks using junctions and signals to maximize efficiency and performance.
As the game progresses, you’ll need to extend and customize your transport empire. You can upgrade industry buildings, stations and depots in various ways, and improve your trains using new engines and special wagons. Each upgrade offers a unique bonus; greater capacity, new processing rules and even new cargo types. Players can develop their own strategy to suit best the network they're building.
With the innovative viewing modes, you can ride one of your trains or watch the operation of the network you have built. You can exit construction mode at any time to dive back into the beautiful landscapes and detailing of the 3D world. You can see your track network from a different perspective, or even jump into one of your train and enjoy the ride.
For the Early Access release, we've prepared already first 5 eras out of 7. As EA progresses, we will introduce more eras so in the future, you’ll progress from the Age of Steam through the modern world and into the future. You’ll encounter new industries and vehicles in each era. Villages will grow to become cities, new infrastructure and upgrades will become available. It is up to you how you use these new features to build your transport empire. From humble beginnings, you’ll build a vast transport network using everything from steam power while moving cargo like coal and wood to - will be introduced to the game in the future - maglev supertrains delivering futuristic electronics.Mashinky — game info

I'll start this out by comparing it to OpenTTD, going into more details later. Graphics: Much better than OptenTTD Economy: More complex here. Variety of trains: better here. Variety of road vehicles: On par Variety of air vehicles: No comment, haven't really gotten into that here yet. Variety of naval vessels: Non existent here Viability of using different vehicle types: Different, i'll explain later. Simplicity/complexity: This game is more advanced than OpenTTD. Soundtrack: On par, but the music is better on the ears. Game audio: Better here Progress scaling: A lot more things here. Sense of achievment: Much higher here Multiplayer: sadly i cannot answer, as the game is currently too small for any of my friends to bother spending money on. Game updates: OpenTTD isn't getting much in the ways of updates, but Jan is a solo developer with a family, so updates are slow here. Bugs: sometimes infuriating, but nothing gamebreaking In depth: This game is absolutely lovely, coming from OpenTTD and having tried other similar titles, i usually come back to this game. Much like in OpenTTD you can take resources from one source, plonk them down on a station for another larger vehicle to t…3 found this helpful
Crashes a lot, missing a lot of QoL and feels very half baked despite very long time in development already2 found this helpful
I still stick by my assertion that Mashinky needs multiple parallel tracks on a single tile. But having played it for many more hours since my previous review, I've come to feel that it's not quite a deal-breaker, it's just kinda frustrating when you're trying to work in and around towns. Otherwise, you have to - critically have to - use multiple tiles. [Previous review below] I wish I could post a neutral review. This game desperately requires parallel-tracking and multi-platform stations. The technical capability to do so is clearly in the game, as roadways already work this way. When this game gets parallel tracking and multi-platform train stations, it'll be worth buying. Until then, stick with other train games.1 found this helpful
An addictive transport-tycoon-alike game, which I revisit once in a while for a playthrough. It's not the most elaborate, complex or graphically pleasing game out there, but overall a well-rounded experience. It has some fun unique aspects, like the ability to change to isometric view, the token-based gameplay (not only money) and necessity to build powerlines.
If you like creating train networks then it's an easy buy. I wanted to give this a positive review as I've had it in my library for years and it's given me hours of joy. Other more in depth reviews will give you more of an idea, the only thing I'd say to be mindful of is the token system. You haul goods to receive tokens which are then used as currency to either buy trains, run trains, upgrade industry etc. Different industries give you different tokens. A slightly different take on just receiving cash but one I got used to quite quickly.
very challenging love always sum new to do guys buy the game its cool also dont forget the dlc on steam work shop
