I'll start this out by comparing it to OpenTTD, going into more details later. Graphics: Much better than OptenTTD Economy: More complex here. Variety of trains: better here. Variety of road vehicles: On par Variety of air vehicles: No comment, haven't really gotten into that here yet. Variety of naval vessels: Non existent here Viability of using different vehicle types: Different, i'll explain later. Simplicity/complexity: This game is more advanced than OpenTTD. Soundtrack: On par, but the music is better on the ears. Game audio: Better here Progress scaling: A lot more things here. Sense of achievment: Much higher here Multiplayer: sadly i cannot answer, as the game is currently too small for any of my friends to bother spending money on. Game updates: OpenTTD isn't getting much in the ways of updates, but Jan is a solo developer with a family, so updates are slow here. Crashes a lot, missing a lot of QoL and feels very half baked despite very long time in development already

I still stick by my assertion that Mashinky needs multiple parallel tracks on a single tile. But having played it for many more hours since my previous review, I've come to feel that it's not quite a deal-breaker, it's just kinda frustrating when you're trying to work in and around towns. Otherwise, you have to - critically have to - use multiple tiles. [Previous review below] I wish I could post a neutral review. This game desperately [b]requires[/b] parallel-tracking and multi-platform stations. The technical capability to do so is clearly in the game, as roadways already work this way. When this game gets parallel tracking and multi-platform train stations, it'll be worth buying. Until then, stick with other train games.

An addictive transport-tycoon-alike game, which I revisit once in a while for a playthrough. It's not the most elaborate, complex or graphically pleasing game out there, but overall a well-rounded experience. It has some fun unique aspects, like the ability to change to isometric view, the token-based gameplay (not only money) and necessity to build powerlines.

If you like creating train networks then it's an easy buy. I wanted to give this a positive review as I've had it in my library for years and it's given me hours of joy. Other more in depth reviews will give you more of an idea, the only thing I'd say to be mindful of is the token system. You haul goods to receive tokens which are then used as currency to either buy trains, run trains, upgrade industry etc. Different industries give you different tokens. A slightly different take on just receiving cash but one I got used to quite quickly.
