About SIMULACRA

✦ AI summary

Dig through a lost woman's phone to uncover what happened to her by exploring her messages, photos, apps, and corrupted files while the device itself grows increasingly unstable. This live-action narrative thriller stands out with its immersive smartphone interface and multiple endings that shift based on the mysteries you uncover.

From the creators of Sara is Missing, SIMULACRA is a spiritual sequel to the highly acclaimed "found phone" horror game.

You found the lost phone of a woman named Anna. In it, you see a desperate cry for help in the form of a video message. The phone behaves strangely as you dive deeper into it. You talk to her friends and they have no idea where she is. Her texts, emails and photo gallery provides fragments of information. It's up to you to piece it together.

Recover lost files, piece back corrupted data, and retrace her final steps. Find her before it's too late.

SIMULACRA is an immersive narrative thriller using the interface of a mobile phone. Like all phones, you have messages, emails, gallery and all kinds of apps to look through. With a strong focus on realism, the game's characters are played by live actors and shot at real locations. Dive into Anna's life as you look at her private photos, go through her dating app or view her personal video logs.

Features

✦ AI summary

SIMULACRA is praised for its unique concept and fresh ideas in the horror genre, but players find the execution inconsistent, with repetitive gameplay and scares that wear thin halfway through, along with cringy dialogue and weak voice acting that undermine the promising premise. While some players enjoy it overall, the unsatisfying conclusion and mediocre pacing suggest waiting for a sale rather than purchasing at full price.

A pretty unique game with a really good concept, unfortunately I found the execution pretty mediocre. The story was okay, but the conclusion was pretty unsatisfying. The gameplay also started to get repetitive around halfway through the game and the same goes for the scares. The dialogue was okayish, but could be pretty cringy and clunky at times and the acting was honestly pretty bad. I still had some fun with the game but I hope the second game improves on some of the problems I had with this one.
