XIII

Okay, people were not kidding its actually so bad. Gamers love to dogpile and band wagon onto "flops". This is not one of those cases. It feels SO bad to play and its hard to communicate through watching a video.

Fun, but pretty rough, especially when compared to the original. I played this before I played the original version, and I did have a pretty okay time with it, but after playing the original, this stands out as a rather abysmal attempt at a remake. There is a very distinct lack of polish in most areas, that was for me very apparent, and did definitely lessen my experience. Little details like, immortal bulletproof rabbits, might not sound like a lot, but it just makes the game feel lazy. When compared to the original title, there is a noticeable lack of charm, although certain aspects are certainly improved upon, the ability to aim down the sights of all gun types, being a definite improvement. And the checkpoints have been made significantly better, no longer being as unfair as the original. So on the whole, this is a fun if flawed remake of a great game, that isn't terrible, but also isn't particularly good. I'm giving it a positive review, because I did have fun with it, but if I was reviewing it solely as a remake, it would definitely get a thumbs down.

for those who like to play a nostalgic game, this is it. It does have a few changes to its graphics based on the PS2 game but still worth the try

I recommend only because of heavy nostalgic feeling I have towards XIII original. It was among the first games I played, and this reminded me of some happy times. There are still elements that makes you play it and go for the next level. I like the level design with cell-shaded graphics. The story is #1, it is really a movie worth material. There are sadly many negative sides. There are SOOO many glitches in game. You can fall though scenery, get stuck in a room, or grass. Terrible collision detection. Some weapons are not interesting to use at all. Pistol is not even detecting hits sometimes. Shooting feels horrible with shotguns. In general shooting is very bad. As I said, the game should be bought only for 1 EUR, nothing more. And for people that want to play for achievements - like me. Otherwise go for original. 6/10

Loved the original and with an update that works, its ace!

It's a fine game. I never played the original or this remake at release, so playing it now, I think the game is alright. Maybe it's not the best FPS, but it's still an enjoyable, mediocre game. It's worth checking out if you want something a little different from most FPS games.
