Escape Dead Island

Escape Dead Island is a pretty disappointing spin-off that feels like a cheap imitation of the games it's based on. The cel-shaded art style is actually pretty nice, but the gameplay is shallow and repetitive, with boring combat, very few weapons, and a painfully linear map that constantly has you running through the same areas. The story has a few interesting ideas, particularly with the hallucinations, but it's not enough to make the game worth playing. It feels more like a budget experiment than a proper Dead Island game, and by the end I was mostly just glad it was over. I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get it for next to nothing.

Cool cel-shaded art style and an intriguing psychological horror setup, but that's about where the good stuff ends. The combat feels clumsy, stealth is poorly implemented, and the story gets incredibly confusing and repetitive. It's a massive step down from the main Dead Island games. 4/10

Why did i ever let this gem sit in my library for 8+ years before checking it out? A bit clunky here and there but well worth a playthrough
