MOTHERGUNSHIP

Mothergunship is a funny word. It's also the sequel to Tower Of Guns, which is a game that I absolutely loved many years ago. This sequel comes with a new graphic style and a brand new gimmick, but how does it compare to the original, and is it still as fun ? While Tower Of Guns was a pure Roguelike, Mothergunship is more akin to a roguelite in several aspects. Permanent upgrades, a hub you go back to after every mission, gun parts you collect and save for later use... It's actually those gun parts that are the game's new main gimmick. In Mothergunship, you craft your very own guns from parts you find, buy, or earn as rewards. There are barrels that are the actual guns, caps that serve as augments and modify the way the gun fires, and connectors that link all of those parts together. Start the mission with a few parts from your inventory, then add more in each shop you come across. Your gun can quickly become a monstrosity, but the more parts you add, the more energy it uses and the less often it can fire. Once you're happy with your creation, it's time to put it to use to clear procedurately generated rooms in this cool-looking arena shooter. Cannons, flying spinbots, mecha…

Terribly unstable in multiplayer. Definitely a product of the time, and not a good one.

I didn't even finish the first boss. The game was very boring for me. It's obvious they made it for mouse and keyboard and controller support was an afterthought. Looking around and shooting doesn't feel good at all on controller. The performance is also terrible for the graphics. I didn't get to play around with the gun building mechanic nor did i really feel like it, it felt boring from the start and the only gun i made didn't look like a gun at all. Really not nice to look at

Some really fun ideas but just too rough around the edges to recommend this. It probably would have been okay if progression were a bit faster but it's real stingy with upgrades and resources. Also could really use some movement options. Even the basic jump feels a bit anemic which makes having multiple jumps less fun. Assembling guns is obviously the selling point of the game but even that falls a bit short as once you have higher-power barrels on there you can't afford to put more than a couple or you'll use up all your energy too fast. To be clear this game is NOT HORRIBLE, just not good enough to recommend.

Fun game, endboss of the campaign was kinda dissapointing. Still a fun doomlike shooter
