R-Type Final 2

Ok so I might a bit biased. I am a R Type fan since I was a child. This installment fix my R-type itch pretty much 100%. It has everything you need for a good R Type entry: interesting stage, funky boss, tons of ship and weapon variety, customization and progression! Also, you no longer die from scratching the terrain, which is the one thing that I hate about r-type honestly I'm just glad they removed it. I highly recommend this to any R-type fan!

If you liked R-Type Final on the PS2 then you'll like its successor. It's not terribly balanced because there are so many ships, which can add a ton more challenge to the stages. The main campaign is all right, with multiple paths to three different end stages. Also, some of the stages are rather barren graphically, but others are beautiful. There are multiple difficulties to test your skill, with Normal being pretty easy and R-Typer 3 being similar to R-Typer on the original Final game. The DLC packs for this game are where it really shines - you can use the course editor to make an original stage layout and add DLC stages, some of which are easier and shorter than the main campaign. A lot of the stages are homages to stages from R-Type I, II, III, Delta, Final, and even Leo. There are some subtle differences in them, but having knowledge of the original stages helps, and the new renditions of their stage themes are wonderful. There are three DLC packs, which I'd recommend if you're buying the game at all, because it adds a lot more variety to the game. super hard and super easy, its the best one so far.. i own it 3 times haha
