Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved is a old school style shooter, but remixed for the 21st century with next generation graphics and deep, modern gameplay. Playing is simple: you are a geometric "ship" trapped in a grid world, facing off against waves of deadly wanderers, snakes, and repulsars. Your aim is to survive long enough to set a high score!
Avoid the spawning enemies, and shoot them down for points. You can also fire smart bombs, which destroy all bad guys on the screen. Save these up for when the going gets really tough!
The more bad guys you kill, the higher your score multiplier goes (2x, 4x, etc.). The higher your multiplier, the more you can score. But don't die, as you lose your multiplier and have to build it up again from scratch!

It's a classic. One of the gems from the Xbox 360 days which made people realise that a game doesn't have to be a hundred million dollar AAA game to be fun and addictive. If one day there is a video game hall of fame then Geometry Wars is right in there. The soundtrack alone will make you want to play. Timeless.
This game although looks simple actually contains allot of depth. I wish it didn't get difficult so soon tho. Like a chill mode would be great. But it's still a fun pickup and play arcade. And I love it.
It turns out, that the OPTIMUM WAY to play Geometry Wars is to USE THE ORIGINAL STEAM CONTROLLER. The fluidity and accuracy that you can have with this setup is totally a transcendental experience. Two products decades apart — but happen to be designed perfectly for one another. TRY IT
