[h1]A Great Simulator Trapped in a Terrible PC Gaming Experience[/h1] I really wanted to like Wings Over Europe, because underneath all the technical problems, there is a genuinely good flight simulator here. Unfortunately, getting the game to actually run properly was an experience in itself. It took me hours just to get the game running. I had to install mandatory updates from the developer's website, mess around with dgVoodoo to upgrade the rendering API, and apply various fixes and workarounds just to make a 20-year-old game playable on a modern system. And even after all that debugging, the game is still unstable. After a few sessions, I discovered that simply pressing Escape in the middle of a game can cause it to crash. At that point, it becomes difficult to recommend the game to anyone who just wants to install it and play. [h2]The lack of a proper tutorial is another major problem[/h2] There is literally no meaningful in-game tutorial to help new players understand the simulator. only buy on sale, infact steam is not the best way to play this classic. needs patching to work. steam have slipped up here like many other classics. once issues are sorted its fun classic.

controls are ass, even with DGVOODO performance is terrible, i wish to kms now

Working for me on Endeavour OS thru Proton. I installed the 2008 October patch using Wine, and then the Desert Storm mod again using Wine. Game runs better with graphics cranked up than at high or medium. Occasionally blackscreens after a mission or when changing focus to another application, but does not crash my whole system. Occasional momentary freezes in game, but gameplay resumes. Opentrack works. Joysticks detected. Set sound to 32 channels for better quality; 16 channels is old school crunchy audio.

If your PC can't run DCS or you don't want to spend money on expensive planes also from DCS then this is the game for you. Recommended!

May or may not run on your modern computer. In my case it crashes every time I try to enter flight. Bring the new ones here Third wire. What gives?
