I stopped playing IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 in 2008. As a result, I completely missed the game’s release, which was buggy upon release. In 2019, I returned to flying, bought this game, tried it out, and uninstalled it. I’m still waiting for the wing control surfaces to move smoothly, and I’m patiently awaiting VR support—which, according to promises, should have been here long ago—or the Dieppe DLC promised until recently for the end of 2024, which was two years ago. I do not recommend buying this game.4 found this helpful
Right now this is my most favourite WWII flying sim! I Have flown in IL-2 Forgottenbattles 1946, IL-2 Bos now Box and Warthunder. Cliffs of Dover has a bit higher learning curve than other titles but it is the most realistic representation of WWII Aircombat that I have experienced. Flight and damage modes are much better than in other games. The overall immersion is stronger as well. Game got lot of negative critisism from its realy sloppy start back in the 2011. But in actual Blitz-fromat (Thank you Team fusion!) its a real gem! Better graphics and more stable. As a graphics goes you can see that its and older title BUT! Graphics look more realistic than the one in IL-2 BOS. Bos feel more cartoony. I never played DCS so I can compare it only from youtube videos. Their graphics are superrior to CLiffs of dover but not by much! Biggest big + for me is that you get full game with single purchase, no paywall hidden content you can fly all planes in the game day 1. If you buy their only DLC you get a second theather of war in north Africa wiht fully accesable roster, no collector planes needed! Biggest - is that the multiplayer base is realy low. 5-10 players on one serve…3 found this helpful
An amazing game with great physics and simulation, it's a sandbox with many planes to pick from, highly recommended especially at 3.62$.? That's a steal mate. And hold your horses! Il 2 stalingrad is 18 bucks only? What a deal. I love this bloody game and it reminds me of Sky on Fire 1941, FlightGear, etc. A great demonstration of a team full of potential, success, thrive, and passion towards coding, designing, etc. Pros vs cons Pros: Good physics (you will feel drag a lot and a lot of times you'd feel motion sickness) Great graphics: for a game this bloody cheap during sales, don't forget to also get the 14.5$ version instead! It has North African maps and a great documentary full of extra hot planes with full control and attention to details. Cons: needs a hotas or a joystick, this is the only con. And the map isn't as limited as it seems like, the game certainly has bloody "Dover" but that isn't enough, maybe if the map was to be extended, refurbished to be wider? Thanks devs.1 found this helpful

I preferred it how it was this is over complicated now and not the simple pick up and play game it was in its original form ... pity I was hoping to play that game
