Dark Parables: The Exiled Prince Collector's Edition

This may have been amazing when it was first released, but it has not aged well. The map is generally unhelpful, showing only places where hidden object scenes are available to play. There's a LOT of back and forthing for those hidden object scenes and even having rooms labeled on the map would have helped. The hidden object scenes are monotonous and not very fun. Perhaps it's my monitor, but the scenes are all pretty dark and often the objects don't show up as the same color as they do in the outlines (all the scenes are outlines of pieces of the goal object). Storyline was...there? I guess. I think I was annoyed by the other stuff so it seemed even more lightweight than you'd expect from a HOG. I did complete the main game because I'd passed the point where I could return it.

Again, would only recommend this game on sale, as 20 dollars feels like too high of a price tag. That said, this game is my absolute favorite in the series that I've played thus far (I've played up to game 8.) Gorgeous visuals, very interesting and fascinating story. It really polishes everything from the first game to give it a special sort of shine, and I'm honestly a little sad that the series peaked with the second game out of 16 (This is an assumption because I've only played up to game 8, and game 8 was very unenjoyable.) This game also features what I believe to be the smoothest teaser/transition between games. :)

A very nice sequel. A bit more polished and more cutscenes. Overall a really nice game with a nice story. The price though is pretty meh. I would buy it on a big sale. I can still really recommend it

I loved the game and it was going very well until I got to Chapter 8 when you were suppose to put the portraits of Prince and Princess into the proper statues hand which I did and it opened the door behind them and I went through. I closed the game at that time and when I returned the new day the portrait of the lady stature no longer had the portrait, the door was closed and I cannot get the portrait into her hand again. I'm at a stand still. Please help !!!!

This game is definitely an improvement over the first game, i like the story in this game more than in the previous one. Though it was slightly boring that most of the minigames had been very similar, yet it's a fun game.

Contrary to the listed release date of 2016, an internet search showed that this first came out in 2011. The game shows it's age, as it's older HOG. The clicking mechanics are poor, with mouse clicks on objects frequently don't select them into your inventory, especially during the Hidden Object Scenes. The HINT feature does not appear to work, which complicates playthrough. There is however a player guide on the tool bar which basically spells out exactly what to click and where, in order to proceed. For completists only. This is the second game in the Dark Parable series. There are better Hidden Object Games for your limited time.
