Shape of the World

I have no clue what's going on.. i don't know why I have to click the things I have to click... I don't know why some clicks do something and some don't.. and most importantly I got motion sick af. So no recommendation from me. (Especially not for full price, holy cow.. got it on sale)

Decent but also a bit boring exploration walking sim. It's achievements are quite grindy.

[h2]Lost in a pastel screensaver with nowhere better to be[/h2] Shape of the World is a first-person exploration game in which the landscape grows, shifts and rearranges itself around you. In practice, this means wandering through peculiar pastel colours that periodically make you wonder whether your monitor has developed a fault. The deliberately simple shapes and colour palette look like something from a bad dream - or perhaps the result of a graphic designer becoming very bored on a quiet Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, the ambient music sounds rather like Jean-Michel Jarre fell asleep face-first on his keyboard and nobody had the heart to wake him. Progress largely involves heading towards arches made of triangles. When those are not immediately available, you interact with things until the game produces something resembling a staircase or walkway to shepherd you onwards. Around you, assorted creatures continuously scurry and float about, although increased quantity does not noticeably improve their aesthetic prospects. You can also create trees and destroy trees, apparently because forestry regulations have been suspended for the duration. As you move, the landscape continually…

Bought it based on the video, but reviewing thumbs down as not for me. I think if it had faster movement, and higher jumping I would like it more, but Im too young to enjoy simulating what life with a zimmer frame would be like. Bought for 1GBP, and I wont refund it (kinda cant be bothered, and in principle I want more experimental games like this to exist, so I need to send a market signal), but I stopped playing pretty soon since I find it terribly boring. I had to lower gamma so everything isnt washed out (why would anyone ship a game without a gamma and brightness calibration screen?). Clicking on stuff isnt interesting or challenging. I like the cute animations and stuff, but seeing stuff pop-in like this made me think they had a render issue, and they pivotted by having "fun pop-in". IDK.

Some of the most god awful achievement design I've ever seen attatched to a game that doesn't even effectively evoke what it intends to. Just trash.
