The description of the game calls it a "slow walk" but theres no character movement at all. Just scene changes with a full fade to black and absolutely no settings or ability to pause / close the game from within the game3 found this helpful
More Google Maps than an actual game, i would have preffered a real forest rather than a blue orange filter. should have let it as a normal forest with normal weather instead of filters
no use of W,S,A,D to move through the forest, A simple hover over the S, N circles in the forest to move forward or back. can't go West or East, just North or South. Only 2 types of birds from what i saw playing the game, a magpie and a colourful bird in the tree. Nice environment though, nothing stressful, I think its made to be a relaxing zen game but quickly becomes boring. Only 1 bitd per page you move to, never 2 or 3 or 4 birds around to take a photo of, just 1, and sometimes 0 bitfs so move to the next page and move again and 1 bird, take a photo. Basically, this game isL see bird, take photo, move to next location, see bird, take photo move on and repeat. No camera extras like vertical photo or options for ngiht photo despite the fact dusk and ngiht comes along, as there is a day/night cycle. Only 3 zooms for the camera, Max Zoom, 2nd zoom, 3rd zoom. For a free game its a nice idea put together if you want a relaxing time. Game can't be finished. I kept heading north and eventually I got to a point where I couldn't go north any more so I had no choice but to turn around back to where I came from and head south. WHen I go to the far end north, no thanks for pl…
"Wanderness" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Wanderness" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. This is just a short exhibition of a small collection of 360 degree photos. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local photo/art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts wi…
