About Garden Variety Body Horror - Rare Import
GARDEN VARIETY BODY HORROR is the bloody disgusting, unsanctioned followup to last years sleeper non-hit PROTOTYPE MANSION. In this all new survival/adventure you play as HANK, the idiot B-story partner who must SOLVE, PUNCH and HEAL his way through an unimaginable garden-themed existential nightmare. Investigate a fog filled estate, solve puzzles, fight horrific monsters, and enjoy the relaxing sounds of bad Japanese dub. (English subtitles included)
Back of CD case reads:
HANK MAKER is separated from his partner and hopelessly alone while on call to a foggy island. He must now shovel his way through an existential crisis of guts, gore, and gardening. What other nightmares await our idiot cop from disc 1?

Time is wrong. Played offline. If youve not played this devs other games, youre in for a real treat cuz they have 2 more in the same vein. Each one unique. Clunkily 90s inspired. BUT it actually works. It can be completed. The art style and heavy pixel art really works for this type of game. Tank controls. Silly menus and strange choices of UI and inventory. Its a worthwhile experience and I always enjoy seeing another release from this talented dev.2 found this helpful

Wish I could give an "ok/mixed" review but It's a lot better than the first game, a flashlight is nice and a nice garden variety of melee weapons. The puzzles are pretty straightforward but do require a bit of work and some brain to figure out how and when to use them. Thought I softlocked pretty early by not knowing I could pick up the fuses at the start, this meant that once I had a full inventory full of items I couldn't get rid off, I couldn't pick up the fuses bc of the full inventory which I needed for the item boxes. I could have kept playing without the boxes but it would have made it a lot more frustrating item management wise, I only found out after a restart that I could have put one of the items somewhere but this would have needed some exploring. So I am glad I restarted to make use of them right away. During this first playthrough I also encountered a bug which made the lake area just 100% black without a flashlight. After restarting I learned this was not intentional. The graveyard is quite annoying with how many enemies there are, even after killing a ton of them they just kept coming back every time I reentered the area which was such a pain, Somewhere near the…2 found this helpful
This was a neat little sequel. Much more realized than the first game. Though for all the improvements, it doesn't overstay its welcome and doesn't ask much from you difficulty-wise (aside from a few too many enemies). It's just really delightful and feels exactly like the thing it wants to be. If you want a fun little game that scratches a quick survival horror itch, then this does a good job. ALSO, there's a part near the end that plays with some top tier gaming meta. I won't ruin it, but that alone is worth the price, imo.1 found this helpful
I love the PS1 vibes. Super nostalgic. Definitely play the first one first to follow the storyline. It took me a while to beat the first one but when I did I jumped and started yelling "Ain't no video game going to conquer me!". Love the og resident evil vibes. except that this game is nowhere near as frustrating as RE. The dialogue is funny. oh, and quick tip. Don't get your head blown off by being too curious around a specific well LOL. 10/10 would recommend.1 found this helpful
Teaboy's Basic(ish) Reviews....I read a lot of reviews when looking at games on Steam, and it quickly gets tiring – those who write involved, down to the micron scale reviews, although helpful, end up like looking at War & Peace when you’ve only got time for a quick 5 minute dump! This is middle of the road and to the point – not easy for me as I tend towards sesquipedalian loquaciousness! Vociferously Verbose? Alright, verbal diarrhoea. (Although I hate panning a developer’s work and all the time, effort and love they put into designing these – it is their life after all – this is my honest, personal opinion of my level of enjoyment. Sorry devs!). A note on time played: My Steam clock does not seem to work properly, indeed, it even minuses time on occasion! Plus, I have a tendency to wander off and leave games running at times, so time played may not be entirely accurate! Teaboy’s Tonsil Titillators or Toenail Titbits! (Rating) Tonsil Tickler (Totally Tops): The frenchy of which you always dreamt! To quote a master, “She’s got a tongue like an electric eel and she likes the taste of a Man’s tonsils!”. An absolute masterpiece and joy to play. The Tits (Terri…
