Obscure

hmm. so at first when i learned about this game i was like "Obscure looks like a pretty cool obscure game for being such an obscure game". now after playing this obscurely obscure title, its still obscured to as to why this obscure game is so obscure. while the game might be obscure, it doesn't deserve to be obscure, and not because obscure is the name either, but because its actually really fun! if you enjoy RE1 like games with a comedy/horror vibe but also pretty challenging like a true survival horror game should be, then you should really enjoy this game! this is probably one the most obscure obscure games that are obscure for reasons that yet remain obscured to me. this is an obscured hidden gem!

It's like Resident Evil but with worse dialogue, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ inventory management, stupid enemies, confusing levels, multiple characters with different abilities, worse music, worse puzzles....Actually, it's nothing like Resident Evil because Resident Evil is top shelf Survival Horror and not wet, runny poop dripping from your Hershey dispenser. It's not a bad game. I'm just being silly. It's just not amazing.

There are some games you remember because they were good, and then there are games you remember because they became part of a specific time in your life. Obscure is one of those games for me. I used to play this on PS2 and absolutely loved it. Back then, I don’t think I could fully explain why I loved it so much. I just knew there was something about it — the school setting, the characters, the music, the horror, the feeling of exploring those dark hallways — that completely pulled me in. It had such a distinct atmosphere that even years later, I could still remember how it felt to play it! Replaying it now, all these years later, I expected nostalgia to do most of the work. Instead, I realized something: Obscure was genuinely ahead of its time. The atmosphere is still incredible. Leafmore High feels like an actual place rather than just a backdrop for a horror game. The empty classrooms, abandoned corridors, underground areas, strange experiments, flickering lights — everything creates this perfect early-2000s teen horror atmosphere. It feels like someone took the horror movies I grew up watching and somehow turned one into a playable experience. And then there’s the soundtrac…
