Floor 13: Deep State

I only got to play the game for 10 mins and already failed to stop a bomb plot! Doesn't deserve the bad reviews in my opinion!

The fact this game is so faithful to the original Floor 13 (a DOS game from 1991) is both it's greatest asset and curse. It was a unique game, in many ways ahead of it's time. But also very hard, opaque, and dry. Whilst 'Deep State' improves with it's story and presentation, as well as making the game slightly easier (only slightly), it just doesn't feel enough to justify buying this over finding a copy of the original for free. The UI isn't enough of an update and it quickly becomes very difficult organising different suspects, orders, and cases. The detached nature of the gameplay can also be very frustrating in a way that modern games try to avoid. Sometimes you can fail a case despite doing everything right. Sometimes a case is closed despite nothing really happening, Often I've found that suspect's will whip out something your search operation didn't find. And sometimes it's game over for you taking too direct an action despite it also being game over if you simply observe. The original was unforgiving, but this game often feels simply unfair despite giving you a few more second chances. There are also several glitches. Sometimes you are repeatedly called into the same mee…

I really wanted this game to be good, its not. Don't make same mistake as I did, don't buy it. Hell don't even get it for free. I regret spending my time on this.

The game is good. It tried it's best to mimic the original with some success. Needs work and a better price point.

I do think this game has been unfairly maligned. If you played the original then this is a modern version of that, basically and admin em'up where you order all sorts of shady actions to try and keep the government ahead in the polls. It is pretty unforgiving so be warned. The scenarios a great though. I don't know if there will be any further updates for this but maybe a "story mode" where you can stay in post even if you are behind in the polls would be good. For any Steam Deckers this does work on Deck.

Dead game. no more support since 2022 and game still broken. What a fraud
