About Solar 2

In most games you see stars in the background, you shoot asteroids or you live on planets. But in Solar 2 you ARE these objects! Enter a universe where you must prove yourself to the resident god-like figure by doing its many bizarre and varied tasks. Or just ignore it and see how big you can grow!
Solar 2 is an open-world, sandbox game set in an infinite abstract universe. Play constructively: grow your system, nurture life on your planets and attack enemy life in huge space battles. Play destructively: crash into other objects and cause chaos, use your orbiting objects like wrecking balls, steal planets from other systems.

Key features:

  • Dynamic abstract sandbox universe. Changes and evolves as you do.
  • Non-linear missions and open-world gameplay.
  • No boundaries. Drift forever in ambient space bliss.
  • Full of weird eccentric humor and stuff.
  • Extensive custom sound track.

✦ AI summary

Solar 2 is a fun, relaxing indie game where you start as a small rock and grow progressively larger by consuming objects until you become a black hole, with a unique premise that players find memorable and enjoyable for casual play. The main drawback is that it's quite short—most players finish it in around an hour—making it a one-time experience rather than something with significant replay value. Players recommend picking it up on sale rather than at full price given its brief playtime.

Is fun. Be small rock. Get bigger until be planet. Eat rock until star. Eat planet until black hole. Eat everything until small rock. Repeat. Also has missions and story. Much good.

Got this game many years ago for some reason. Is okay, I guess. Wonder when the guy who made it will come out with Solar 3? Hopefully life treats him well these days.

Played it a few hours, 10 years apart due to my old laptop taken on vacation. It passes the 4 beers an hour break even point. Certainly worth a playthough if it's in discount. You'll finish it quickly, and is unique as a game that you'll remember it years down the line. Is it something you'll restart regularly? NO!
