I keep wanting to like this game. I love automation style games and love Rimworld colony managers and this combines both pretty well but I have restarted my colony about five times now because of stupid things like I can't extinguish a fire. Like, why is it fire extinguishers can't be made until much later in the game. Now I have a raging fire next to my colony they can't put out! Why? Can I make a bucket and fill it with water? Nope. I have to enclose the fire in a building and seal it to kill the oxygen. Now I know that would work scientifically but so would water from that river right next to me! Or the sink in my bathroom that doesn't scientifically stay full of water! I'm frustrated with this game for, what seems to me to be, silly things that should be able to be done but can't. I would not recommend this as is.9 found this helpful
This is one of those games I wish Steam had a mid point suggestion. Like I do recommend it, it's got a nice concept to it, but currently it's kind of crap. I got my people to the ground, got things set up. I was able to build rooms for them to sleep in and stuff like that. Well I removed the food machine, the sink and the toilet from the ship and placed them into my base and after awhile, they auto became denied for my people. I tried several times to click ALLOW, but it doesn't reverse it. All my people are walking around being all hungry, dirty and needing to go to the restroom AND THEY CAN'T! Also, I had some of the locals attack my camp, but it took me a minute to get my people into battle (think Rimworld and enlisting people.) after I had my camp kill the intruders, there is literally no medicine around to heal. two of the people in my camp are walking around going "I need a doctor" and the only medical type device, that I saw at least, is behind a workbench that I don't have access to yet because I need parts. all in all, I enjoy the concept and I understand the game is EA, it's going to have situations such as these. would I recommend the game in it's current state? Buggy mess but still sooooo good!2 found this helpful
Very nice factory builder / colony sim with voxel graphics. What I like about this game is the weather dynamics that has real effects on your factory and workers. It really adds to the gameplay - in fact I suspect this will likely be copied by other similar games going forward. Dawn Apart has less sophisticated factory automation that other games, like Satisfactory. The lines are easier to balance, but there is still considerable complexity of various items (some require 3 inputs to make). This game strongs encourages (if not forces) you to construct factory buildings and living quarters, not just placing belts and machines. You'll need to add heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and also bathrooms. There is also the need to manage your crew's well-being or they will quit. I played without combat, so can't comment on that. Even without combat the game forces you to automate to fulfill increasingly demanding delivery requests from your parent corporation. In turn you will get resources, weapons and additional workers. You can also barter with other NPC companies. The artwork and style is quite nice, too. The user interface is pixelated to match the game world, but qui…1 found this helpful
Crashes too often to be playable. Poor UI.
