Could've been neat
Saving in this game is broken. A real shame because the game has such a cool vibe and aesthetic going for it and the gameplay is perfectly sound. But as it is the game is broken unless you're committed to beating the game in one sitting. There's also other strange technical issues like the game over screen only being shown in half, or the "Exit Game" button literally being unselectable. Seems like the dev cut his losses which is a real shame because why leave such a cool and inspired game so defunct?
Mainly bought the game for the artstyle, beat it within 3hrs along with what I'm positive is seeing everything the game has to offer. I just can't recommend this in the state that it's in. Firstly, I lost an hour of progress because the game wouldnt load my save for reason after launching the game again. Everytime I launched it, I had to remap some buttons for my controller. The settings UI is horrendous as well. For some reason can't exit the game from the menu either. Melee seems more or less unnecessary, like I get that it's to mainly get ammo back but you only get it if you kill enemies using melee, so not really worth it with how weird some of the hitboxes are. Especially since the bosses just give you ammo if you run out. The story at the end and the final boss fall a bit short. Atmosphere, music and sound effects are the strong parts here. Especially the atmosphere. Overall: 4.5/10 (Average-ish)
Riddled with bugs, some pretty serious. I can't even exit the game through the menu, I can't navigate to it. Save points didn't actually save, or at least, it's not letting me load my save. Whether that was due to my inability to quit without force-closing, I don't know, but I don't want to treat this like an NES game and do it all in a sitting. There is controller support, even though it claims otherwise on Steam, but it's kind of janky. It's an interesting enough metroidvania with some cool mechanics, but I don't want to play it anymore.
Short and sweet. It's rough around the edges in terms of platforming and some questionable instakills from the enemies but overall fun. The art direction is dope I do wish there was more to the soundtrack to really bring home the atmosphere.
This game is fun but has been abandoned by the developer. There is no way currently to exit the game when playing via a controller. This was a known issue that the DEV hasn't fixed. Reported it several years ago.
