Rick Henderson

[b]Introduction[/b] Rick Henderson is an endless shmup with procedurally generated levels and 5 bosses. At the end of every 5th level you face an extra big boss and start a new loop afterwards. You have 3 different ships to choose from each with their own special weapon. You can pick up new weapons and upgrades along the way. The game was on my wishlist for a future purchase but I was lucky enough to get a free key in a Twitter giveaway. [b]Gameplay[/b] You have 3 types of weapons, bullets, energy and missiles with varying effectiveness against unarmored, armored and shielded enemies. Once? per level you get a chance to pick up a new weapon to replace one of the three. Some of the enemies destroyed will leave crystals and rank icons for you to pick up. Once you have picked up a rank icon of each colour your rank increases. You get a certain amount of hit points per level which resets at the beginning of a new one. At the end of each level you face a boss, once destroyed it will go to the center of your screen and release a load of crystals and rank icons. You'll also get a choice of 4 upgrades. I don't feel as if this game should be sold on Steam. The game is almost a complete rip-off of 2015's Steredenn. The layout. The UI. The end-of-wave upgrade circle pixels. All stolen. Enemies that look like Steredenn enemies with a slight visual re-skin and have the same attacks as Steredenn enemies. Heck, even the font is stolen from Steredenn.

Not a bad little game, but I find the weapon system confusing. Occasional there is a weapon being dropped, the enemy dropping it is not a unique enemy so you never know who dropped it. The weapon dropped exchanges one of the three weapons you have, but which one it exchanges is not clearly shown by like a color or symbol. The three weapons you have are supposed to be bullet, energy or explosive I guess? There are better shmups out there... but for the price I paid it is a good enough game.

The Game get funner the longer I play it.

Delightful shmup with awesome art! This game is very fun. Reminds me a lot of Steredenn which I also love.
