Retro-tastic! 16-bit shoot-em-up ala R-Type, with good replayability due to the rogue-lite structure. P,S, My Xbox controller worked fine (given another reviewer mentioned it)

It can get a bit repetitive after a while, but early access promises more content. The basics are similar to most shoot-em-ups, so there's no need to go into detail. You fly from left to right, shoot at enemies, and collect numerous power-ups to improve your performance. Because the game is a roguelite, the fun factor derives from randomness. The first thing to point out is that there is no meta-progression. This means that you always start from scratch with the most basic equipment. The only thing you can change is your ship, but you'll be stuck with the default one until you defeat a boss and unlock other ships. Each game begins in a sector comprised of a random grid of stages. You begin on the left and work your way to the right by picking which stages to play. Depending on how you go through the sector, you will usually have a choice after each stage. The layouts of the stages are not random. Due to the limited number of maps accessible, you may find yourself playing the same map multiple times in the same sector. A single stage can have one of three difficulty settings, which affects the number of enemies. The patterns of enemy attacks are also not random. This way, you a…

The game Black Paradox made me fall in love with SHMUP and roguelite combo games. Ever since playing it I've been looking for a game to capture the same feeling. This game definitely scratches the itch. Love the graphics. I turned it down to 1600x900 resolution and 30 fps, turn off bloom, and it looks like the pc games from my childhood! My only issue is the lack of meta progression... I understand you unlock ships but it still kinda feels like losing everything when you die. And the game Is quite difficult. I haven't made it too far in the game yet so I can't tell if there's enough stages/content to justify the pricetag but i gotta say it's a pretty good game. I love seeing a new-ish update too, and it shows dedication by the dev despite the fact it hasn't yet received the attention it deserves. I really hope it continues seeing updates and more content added because I gotta say I LOVE the graphics and roguelike shoot'em'up combo. Thumbs up!! Recommend!! I can't wait to see future updates. Hope it's not abandoned!!

Are you a fan of classic shmups ??? Then this game will have you covered !!! Fast paced action, good music, choice progression and a Rouge-like RNG system that keeps the replay value high. And more to come, of course, looking forward to that :)
