✦ AI summary

Players praise The World After as a well-crafted point-and-click adventure with quality video footage, quirky writing, and nostalgic retro styling that appeals to FMV game fans, though some note its short length and multiple endings add replay value. Common complaints center on poor accessibility features like missing hotspot indicators and hidden objects in backgrounds that cause confusion, unintuitive design choices such as items only becoming available after specific events, and an awkward narrative delivery through QR code video logs, alongside occasional bugs and the need for DLC to fully

Short point-and-click full-motion-video (FMV) adventure, not an interactive film with binary choices like the Wales Interactive products. Quality video footage well shot. Nice environments in countryside France. The plot was somewhat interesting but awkwardly told in part by scanning QR codes (in game) and watching around ten 1-2 minute video logs, especially with the fat actor hamming it up. I didn't know how to proceed in the castle because I missed a place I was supposed to go in. Objects were sometimes "hidden" in the background. A hotspot indicator would have been very convenient. I was annoyed by items that could only be picked up after a certain event, not right away. The last puzzle didn't make sense. In such a short game (1 to 1.5 hours) with such easy puzzles, it's not normal I had to check a guide three times. Nice bonus in the form of a Japanese-style visual novel of basically the same game if you get the "good" ending. Better to play in the original French language, although the English dubbing for the main character was very good. Not so good for the others but acceptable.

The World After is an ambitious narrative adventure that blends classic point-and-click design with full-motion video storytelling to create an experience that feels closer to an interactive film than a traditional game. Developed and published by Burning Sunset, it places the player in the role of Vincent, a writer who escapes pandemic-era Paris for the quiet isolation of the French countryside. What initially appears to be a reflective retreat meant for creative focus gradually transforms into a surreal and unsettling journey, as strange dreams, cryptic encounters, and inexplicable events begin to blur the line between reality, memory, and imagination. The game’s structure leans heavily on exploration and observation. Players move through rural villages, abandoned ruins, and imposing castle grounds, uncovering clues through dialogue, environmental details, and collected items. Rather than emphasizing constant interaction or mechanical challenge, The World After asks players to slow down and absorb its atmosphere. The pacing is deliberate, often lingering on moments of silence or introspection, allowing the world to feel lived-in and contemplative. This measured rhythm reinforces…

Thoroughly enjoyed this game. Took me back to older days with the game style, which I loved.

This is a very decent FMV game. Very Quirky and well written. It has a couple of different modes. The retro filter and visual novel mode make this a treat to play. This is a game that most people will pass by which is a shame. There is some funny bits in it, and some very strange parts too. Its not too long either. There are 3 different endings too. If your a fan of FMV games. Please get this.
