This game is wonderful. It is heavy and serious in many ways, due to the theme of environmental damages by humans, but that makes it even more so worth playing. It highlights what can still be done and why we have to stand up for more respect towards nature and it's resources. Also, noone keeps us from playing this game in chapters and taking breaks with lighter themes. This game sure is close to my heart! Most of the gameplay was doable. There were a few parts where I really struggled with the fast pace of specific "high urgency" sequences or high risk ones where you need precision to balance along a narrow path. But there were not too many points of frustrations to me, overall. Especially after figuring out that the star maps are indicators of my location and how frequent calling along those routes will guide you towards the collectibles. I did struggle a bit that I could't save at my pace but it's autosave instead. But given how you can return to teleportation areas at any time and even after the main game "ends" to finish any achievements, it's fine! ============= A small criticism: ============= two achievments can only be finished with internet connection,…
I think this game was absolutely wonderful. Yes its dark and depressing, but its reality and its not going to sugar coat what has happened over time. I think it portrayed its message beautifully. The gameplay was moderate difficulty, with only certain parts making me frustrated, but otherwise it was very straightforward and often rewarding. Don't forget to pet your animals! 7.5/10
This is a beautiful and underappreciated game! The story is a mix of sorrow and hope. The platforming gameplay is fun and surprisingly deep. There are a few points (in particular having to land on top of sawblade edges) where things get a bit too hard/frustrating in my opinion. Still a fantastic game despite those moments!
One of the most hauntingly beautiful and criminally underrated games I've ever experienced. It's difficult not to draw comparisons to games like Journey, ABZÛ, and INSIDE. Like those titles, After Us tells its story of ecological and societal loss using very few words, relying instead primarily on environmental storytelling, atmosphere, music, and visual symbolism to communicate its themes. That being said, After Us is far from a mere imitation of the aforementioned titles. Its platforming and movement mechanics are satisfying in their own right, the level design remains consistently inventive, and the world itself is breathtaking. Every environment manages to be simultaneously beautiful and tragic, depicting a planet scarred by humanity while still clinging to fragile remnants of hope. It's one of those rare games where I found myself stopping simply to admire the sun scorched vista before continuing on. My only criticism is that some of the platforming can occasionally feel a little imprecise, and a few collectible hunts drag on longer than necessary. Even so, these are minor blemishes on an otherwise unforgettable experience. After Us isn't a game for players looking for co…
Honestly a very underrated game, great level design, visuals, music. Each level introduces a different mechanic so it never gets boring. The only level that I hated was the Bee level, it was too complicated and not fun at all. All the other levels were really good. The length of the game is also perfect - not too long and not too short. Do try it out!
fun environments to explore with a different mechanic in each zone. easy to master and a forgiving game, but i enjoyed discovering the sights and ended up 100%ing it.
