While immersing herself deeply in her creative writing, Amy Chipley suddenly gets an urgent message from Kurt, her boyfriend. The cryptic e-mail implores her to meet up with him at the Student Union Building, and suggests immediate danger.

Locked in the common room with strange, foul-smelling gas seeping in, Amy must do her best to find a way out quickly, else she perishes at the hands of a bloodthirsty cult. Why are there cameras in the dorm rooms? What do these robed fraternity brothers want? And how do ancient gemstones fit into all of this?

Investigate the conspiracy and uncover secrets behind a recent wave of disappearances, rescue Kurt and expose the truth behind it all, or get the hell out as quickly as possible. You’ve still got student loans to pay, after all.

✦ AI summary

Greek Tragedy is a charming retro-styled survival horror game that successfully captures the spirit of classic titles like Alone in the Dark, featuring an appealing illustrated aesthetic and engaging puzzle design that rewards multiple playthroughs with different endings and unlockable game modes. Players praise its heart, clever puzzle work, and atmospheric tension that goes beyond jump scares, though some note the tank controls take getting used to and the game has rough edges. The relatively short main campaign (around four hours) encourages experimentation to discover alternate endings and

It's a bit rough around the edges, but it has a lot of heart and interesting ideas. Feels more OG Alone in the Dark than Resident Evil, but still has its own thing going.

What a delightful little gem Greek Tragedy has far more to offer than I was anticipating; I was immediately drawn the the retro-inspired aesthetic, and I'm charmed by the illustration style used in the photos and character art. In general, as a huge fan of retro and retro-styled survival horror, I was an easy sell, but I did not anticipate finishing a run through the game and immediately feeling the need to dive in to puzzle out the other endings. The way the endings work reminds me of a game like Clock Tower more than the survival horrors you would anticipate most inspiration to be drawn from, and overall the game's runtime is short enough that it's very tantalising to dive back in and keep hunting for whatever puzzles you might have missed on a previous run. This game has a lot of heart, I'm very glad I stumbled upon it.

Greek Tragedy has a wonderful start, but very quickly tails off into a tedious set of fetch quests and the exploration of ugly, boring locations. After such a long development period and a lovely setting and premise, it's a real shame the finished product is so lifeless. SPOILERS FOLLOW! And these are probably the best parts of the game, so don't read if you intend buying and enjoying this! The opening sequence is excellent - a cold open that feints at being a fantasy horror adventure, before revealing through a visual novel section (with really GORGEOUS, characterful 2D art) that we've been playing through fiction that the true main character - a new college student - is writing. The 2D art is so good, the drop into 3D (with lacklustre character models, rudimentary environments, murky lighting and shading) is a shock. But the narrative remains brisk, with the main character's life quickly threatened by a cult that operates behind the scenes of the college - sometimes literally behind the walls of the dormitory! There's no interesting visual design to the enemies, who also lack engaging combat or patrol behavior - mostly patrolling and navmeshing to the player for a single, rep…

Greek Tragedy is a bit of a love letter to tank controls - but a good one! It does feel like playing a retro game you used to play in childhood, and offers a variety of endings to reach while also keeping puzzles interesting and engaging for the player. Very immersive, not your usual all jumpscare horror that will get you feeling a bit stressed and most definitely uneasy during some segments, I was actually quite impressed with it. I did really enjoy playing this, despite struggling a bit to learn the controls properly - eventually I got better and after streaming the gameplay, tried taking on the ending I felt I didn't reach. I will have to say that I may have given up on reaching ending A for now, but do think reaching all of them is very possible :D I really loved the puzzles and the game enough so to look up that last ending and see the dev had released a full video on how to reach it, including some insane speedrunning videogaming (very cool). If you enjoyed this game, I would urge you to look it up as there is some interesting commentary on originally planned puzzles and other details!
