I heard that this title is inspired by Shenmue and Yakuza. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations, but the game turned out to be quite good and exceeded my expectations. Congratulations to the developer, he put a lot of work and the game is a lot of fun to play.6 found this helpful

Hood Story: Kaito Yamazaki is an ambitious, yet short game built with love and care. While there is a use of AI in the voice acting, it's understood that this was the developer's first game and the use of genuine voices could not be retrieved at the time. I still enjoyed the game despite that. It did not take away from my immersion, as I was more interested in the story and I knew going in that there was AI involved due to my experiences with this game and my fondness of it. Being a friend of the developer, I very much enjoyed the story. You can tell even with the AI that there is genuine adoration for his game and the work that went into it. The combat is fun, juggles included and combos that I already learned in-depth. Mini-games are also included. All in all, would love to see more from Kenzo.2 found this helpful

Shenmue. Yakuza. Persona. You're going to see these names peppered quite a bit throughout various Steam reviews and for good reason. Hood Story is a game that wears its inspiration proudly and evokes all of these classic titles, albeit on a lo-fi indie scale. If the above sounds good, you're likely to enjoy the game. Personally, I'm having a blast and can't wait to continue Kaito's adventures in Osaka (the recent addition of Japanese language has me considering a restart!).1 found this helpful
