Breakers Collection

Faithful port of the original games in the series with good rollback netcode insofar as never having an issue playing a game between the States and Brazil. If you wanted a non-Fightcade version to play of this game, you found it. Good way to support them with your cash, if nothing else. And for those who have never played, this is Visco's version of the formula for Street Fighter 2 and the like around the mid-to-late 90's with some honestly very solid results. If you're familiar with that, you'll probably be at home here once you learn the nuances of the engine. Even without doing so, it's a solid casual experience. Unfortunately, this largely gets passed up for people's enjoyment and, as such, the online scene is small to non-existent. That said, if you get a few copies to pass around between friends, it's a great way to spend an hour or two messing with each other and a lot of fun. If you're even marginally interested, I'd tell you to look up others playing it or look into the Fightcade version first to see what you think.

Breakers Collection brings together two lesser-known arcade fighting games from the 1990s, Breakers and Breakers Revenge, giving them a convenient home on modern hardware while retaining their original pixel-art presentation and fast-paced combat. Developed and published for modern platforms by QUByte Interactive, the collection gives a previously obscure fighting series another chance to find an audience. Rather than radically rebuilding the originals, the package focuses on preserving their arcade identity while adding features that make them more practical to play today. At the heart of the collection is straightforward 2D fighting built around quick movement, special attacks, combos, projectiles, and character-specific techniques. Anyone familiar with classic arcade fighters should understand the fundamentals quickly, but there is more depth beneath the approachable controls than the simple presentation initially suggests. Learning attack ranges, timing defensive responses, recognizing openings, and understanding how individual fighters move becomes increasingly important against stronger opponents. This game is a joy! Breakers was pretty easy to beat. Breakers Revenge was about the same but the last boss is a real cheat. I've gotten close to beating him, which is much closer than I've gotten with some other old fighting games. The colors are great, the sprites are great, the movement feels good, the characters are neat, and the music is fun. I love the funky CRT filter I can add to the screen.

Not even slightly fun. Most of the roster are boring to play as, some characters are OP beyond belief, and the overall QoL in this game is abysmal.
