Beat 'Em Up Collection (QUByte Classics)

Fun is being had; I won't say nostalgia, and I will explain why. I have never heard of most of these games, even more if I was to examine my exposure to beat-em-ups I would sum it up in one word "pedestrian". Even when Beat-Em-Ups were at their heights, I probably only played the most known. Streets of rage, Xmen, Cpt. and the Avengers, TMNT, and Battle toads. A couple of those I never owned and only played in arcades stuck in laundry mats and waiting for pizza slices. There is a much larger and more amazing history behind beat-em-ups than I was exposed to and finding gems like this QUByte Classics collection is one of them. No these games didn't get praise from publications like Famitsu but they did add to the breath and growth of the genre beyond Sega and Capcom. Much of the graphics and visual aesthetics are beautiful. The music energetic and fist pumping. The Skills and the combos you do have clarity and impact. This compilation also added quality of life perks like making the game stretch to your screen that really allows you to lock in and enjoy your safari of kicks and punches, through terrain from cities and woods and even swamps. Good set of not so renowned beat 'em ups and that's amazing. An absolute gift for fans to beat it. Contains 7 unique games in great technical state, additional extras and this good old feel to it.

This is a really fun collection of games. Several were Japan originals, that even the most avid of retro gamers will experience for the first time. The collection comes with an optional cheat menu for each game and a rewind feature that you can use to back up the last several seconds of action. You can always choose to go hardcore and not use the features, but if you are just looking to experience these games and not spend hundreds of hours memorizing enemy patterns, these features are great. Save states are also an option to use, which is a great option to use when you only have 20-30 minutes to play. I highly recommend this collection for anyone that likes 16 bit beat em ups.
