Unichrome: A 1-Bit Unicorn Adventure is a frenetic run-and-gun platformer where you guide a colorless unicorn through bullet-hell action across 8 worlds packed with massive bosses and quirky fully-voiced characters. It channels the arcade spirit of classics like Mega Man and Metal Slug with tight controls, retro 1-bit aesthetics, and an absurd cartoon-inspired story that sets it apart from typical pixel-art adventures.

The Unichrome prototype was originally created in just 3 days as part of WGJ 28 with the theme "Rainbow Unicorn". The original prototype had only 4 levels, each of a different color: purple, brown, blue and white. There was only one boss fight originally at the very end. Due to its popularity, it was determined to take this on as a full-scale project. The current team consists of only one person Super8bitRafa (lone developer). The game is currently still being updated weekly.

A fun platformer that's short and sweet. Beat it on Switch and am playing through it on Steam now. The gameplay changes between levels following repercussions from the plot, and I found that keeps the gameplay fresh. Some bugs persist with the audio and visuals, but the gameplay makes it worth a play. My best advice is don't neglect picking up collectable coins and the coins dropped from enemies. It's like retro NES' "SEA CONTRA"! But instead of playing a sweaty Rambo-wannabe you get to control a quirky rainbow unicorn carrying guns bigger than herself!2 found this helpful
This is a fun and funny game and is overall a good time! Visual effects and combat overall feels very satisfying and levels are really well designed. My only critique is I wish momentum carried with the grappling hook, however its still totally manageable and fun.1 found this helpful
