STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar

Cute, sweet game. I like some improved features from Pioneers of Olive Town, like GETTING RID OF MAKERS!! lol. Making the wood and stone in the windmills still drives me crazy though🙄 Like FOR PUTTING IN 30 WOOD I GET LIKE 4 AFTERWARD?? It's a small thing tho. I do wish the max bag space was expanded, I still get frustrated because there are so many different star levels of different animal products to carry and I just can't fit everything! Can I say, I LOVE Felix?? Haha he never fails to make me laugh even as an adult. I love his enthusiasm. My main issue with SoS is that the dialogue remains a little cheesy, it's really for children. I can still enjoy this game as a 26-year-old female, and I love the bazaar, but I do cringe at certain dialogues. Also some of the cutscenes felt a little...confusing? Like characters acting out of age (younger), but I suppose that's because it's geared to children. But you can still get married. That was one thing Harvest Moon did well with popular games like Animal Parade is that the dialogue could be appreciated by young or older. Almost 10 years ago, I played a similar Story of Seasons game, and compared with what I remember from back then, Grand Bazaar feels much more modern. I really like details such as the way the townspeople move around during their daily routines, animals interacting and playing with each other, especially the wind effects or gliding through the air on the wind. These details make the world feel much more alive. I’ve played up to the point of getting married, and while I’ve enjoyed the game, there are still some areas that leave me a little unsatisfied. The biggest one is the personalities and behavior of the townspeople. As a programmer, I can sometimes feel the game’s underlying patterns too clearly. For example, if I get married and then there is an animal contest immediately afterward, talking to a character may first trigger their marriage congratulations, followed by their dialogue about the contest results. Daily conversations also sometimes feel as though they are randomly selected from a dialogue pool based mainly on the current season or recent events. Very addictive, like the OG harvest moon... this game has a lot of new features such as bazaar, super harvest, etc

As someone who has enjoyed many Harvest Moon games, and farming/ranching games in general, Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar does a great job of keeping the nostalgic elements without making it feel like every other game with new characters/location. Absolutely recommend this over many other similar games <3
