About Heroes of Science and Fiction
Heroes of Science and Fiction (formerly known as Silence of the Siren) is a turn-based strategy game where several different space-faring civilizations fight over control of a distant star system. Explore what’s left on the planets and secure resources to build mighty cities. Raise powerful armies and defeat your opponents on the battlefield!
Content in the full gameHeroes of Science and Fiction contains 5 playable factions, four campaigns with 4 levels each and 30+ skirmish maps set in colorful environments. Each faction brings its own base, 7 upgradeable unit types, a special skill and a set of commanders to choose from. There are 24 skills, 54 active commander abilities and various pieces of equipment, consumables and artifacts.
The Siren star system, birthplace of a galactic alliance, and the homeworld of a lost Primals civilization, has been cut from the rest of the galaxy. As a result, the carefully built alliance split into bickering factions and secluded colonies. These days, hardly anyone pays attention to the ruins scattered all over the few habitable planets of a freshly isolated system. The deeper you venture into the uncharted regions, the stronger the feeling of endangerment grows. There is something else. An entity, a shade, an echo of whispers from below.
Explore what's left on the planets and secure important resources. Use them to upgrade your bases with advanced technology and to hire massive armies. Play as several different factions, recruit skilled commanders, teach them new skills and lead them into battle. Overcome obstacles on the map to gather powerful equipment and ancient artifacts. Encounter a wide range of enemies in turn-based combat, use your tactical thinking to gain advantage on the battlefield. Learn the unique moves of your units, deploy your commander's special abilities and outsmart even much stronger opponents.

Played a ton of games like this, going back to the original King's Bounty on release (yeah, I'm old lol). This one is just uninspiring. The units, AI, base building (which is really boring/lacking), combat, no sense of urgency, etc. just makes it....boring to me. I'm thinking when they changed the name from Silence of the Siren to something that players may mistake to be part of the Heroes of Might & Magic series, they knew the game was lacking. I did like the dialog and little quips in it though and the overland maps were cool.15 found this helpful
A worthy spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic III, this turn-based strategy game combines the familiar gameplay conventions of that title with innovative new systems, quality of life improvements, and a fresh new sci-fi setting... not to mention heaps of artistic creativity and razor-sharp wit. Plenty of content, including 5 entirely new factions, dozens of maps, a map editor and an entertaining campaign that doesn't overstay its welcome. Plus, more on the way! As a player who's been enjoying the HoMM series since the very first game (before that even, if you count the original King's Bounty!) I cannot recommend this title enough. This game is unquestionably worth your time and your money.
The concept behind it is great - scifi HOMM3. The execution is so so. The skeleton of a great game is here, and with a few bold decisions this could be amazing, but its held back to being meh but a number of frustrating decisions. - Campaign balancing and mission design, as others have said, largely explore and build economy until you build a doomstack and steamroll. There is room for that sort of gameplay, but it shouldnt be the only experience. - The story and some of the character design is very simple and frankly a bit childish. It doesnt need to be grimdark, but it also dont need to be fisherprice. - Overpriced for what it currently offers as an experience 6/10
Excellent HoMM clone, decent story and setting, some interesting takes on the standard formula (upgrading resource nodes, building on the campaign map). Recommended for fans of the genre.
