Grind Stormer is a vertically scrolling space shoot ‘em up originally developed by Toaplan. The game is an early manic shooter with plenty of bullets coming at the player, a concept that was further developed in Batsugun and eventually led to the bullet hell shoot ‘em ups. The barrage of bullets makes Grind Stormer a very hard game even for the shmup veterans used to a challenge. Newcomers can utilize the new easy mode, rewind, and quick save to learn and progress.
The Japanese version of the game, called V・V (pronounced V Five), features a selectable power-up system with gauges, providing a strategic gameplay element where the key to success is to use the appropriate weapon for each level and enemy encounter. By collecting rhombus items the player can choose between different weapons similar to the Toaplan classic Slap Fight. The international version of Grind Stormer simplifies gameplay by eliminating the selective power-up system and replacing it with instant power-ups based on item acquisition.
Grind Stormer was created by an all-star team that would after their tenure at Toaplan continue their careers in the games industry.

The Story of Grind Stormer:
It’s a game within a game! As a dashing young secret agent in the year 2210, you’ve received an assignment by the government to enter a virtual reality simulator with the NA-00 space fighter craft. The simulator is considered as the ultimate arcade machine. Many players have fought back, but no one has ever cleared it and returned to the real world. When you start to investigate the real purpose, you ask the question “is this really just a game?” Pressing the start button, the speaker gives the start signal. “Showtime!”
ORIGINAL GAME FEATURES:

- The satellite helper WING is standard on the aircraft providing attack variations such as a forward barrage or a wide strike.

Peeps complaining about difficulty. So? Go solo Battle Squadron published by Electronic Arts in 1990 and then talk to me. Grind Stormer looks great, plays great and more importantly the port looks good. There's an achievement for 100 play-throughs. Those complaining should be able to get past Stage Two by that time. I obtained the game in an $8 4 game bundle with Truxton 2. Absolute steal and awesome value.19 found this helpful

This is the best release of this game. The emulator runs with no stupid envelopes so you can play full screen on your vertical 3//4 monitor. There’s rewinds, saves, difficulty selectors, accessibility selectors, multiple binds and multi-binds. You can disable instagram filtres that are turned on by default. But the game itself sucks. It's a vertical scroll-shooter that uses the same system as Slap Fight. Instead of getting bonuses and upgrades you pick up tokens and spend them on upgrades through a cancer system. You have no wallet you can't pick and choose. However many you have that much you will spend on something with exact price. And they overflow, if you have enough for the most expensive shield, you can accidentally pick up another one and be offered only a downgrade. The game needs a button for shopping, so since they didn't add another button, there are no bombs. You have no defencive options. Every time you die you lose everything. So the first death means that no matter how many lives players accumulated accumulated, they mean nothing and all will be instantly wasted. The game is bullet hell and the enemies are bullet sponges. Very hard old school shooter. However the game has extras that help you beat the game. These extras are like enemy hitpoints, increase lives, easy option extra make it worth while and playing. If you grew up on oldschool 90's arcade games this is recommended.
I thought this game was good but I just did not like it. If felt like a console game and the music was just horrible.
Nope. Difficulty is crazy high. After round 2 with the highest difficulty: it is just impossible.
