The one-of-a-kind science fiction-themed shoot ‘em up Dogyuun is packed with gigantic bosses and a huge enemy variety that provides a tough challenge even for hardened shmup veterans. Dogyuun is a visual spectacle of amazing pixel art graphics and detailed animation under the artistic vision of Hayashi Miho and Koetsu Iwabuchi. The game also marked the debut of manga artist Junya Inoue as one of the graphic artists.

The story of Dogyuun:
”On the planet colony Dino emergency occurred!
The new variable bomber Sylfers, fresh from rollout, head for the base cut away from the communication.
But, what they was….?
It was the base swarmed by enigmatic mechanic entities.

ORIGINAL GAME FEATURES:
- Combine your Powers: When two players are playing at the same time, you can combine 1 player and 2 players with the unit beam button for the strongest power increase.
- Always Full Power: There is no power-up, and you can fight using “Mega Shot,” “Psycho Beam,” “V Laser,” and “Homing Fire.” Get bonus points for getting the same shot item.
- Superior Soundtrack: Rock your space battles with the soundtrack composed by Tatsuya Uemura.

- Minimal Input Lag: Emulation, input processing, and rendering all complete on the same frame.
- Quick Save using F1-F10, Reload with Shift+ F1-F10

With reduced hitbox that this port provides + picking up 2nd player ship with tractor beam for extra firepower and disabling checkpoint system + easiest difficulty it's actually very enjoyable game that will not frustrate you too much. It’s a sci-fi vertical scroll shooter made for coinmuncher machines. You can swap your gun with the choices being beam, V-beam, seeker, and cooler seeker. Instead of normal bombs you can swap between a weak defencive bomb module that improves the blue beam, and a dodge-roll module that allows you to run away when cornered. Near the end there’s a giant mechs boxing stage. There are no upgrades, so basically what you start with is what you get. On the other hand games that have upgrades are balanced around you having all. So when you die you are put into inescapable death loop. In this game even after dying you are as capable as before you have died. It still is a coin-muncher pay to win game that wants to kill you every second, tho. This is the best release of this game. The emulator runs with no stupid envelopes so you can play full screen on your vertical 3//4 monitor. There’s rewinds, saves, difficulty selectors, accessibility selectors, multiple binds and multi-binds. You can disable instagram filtres that are turned on by default. Pretty interesting shoot 'em up! You don't get power-ups, only 4 interchangeable bullet styles and 2 side abilities, but the game manages to stay fresh thanks to boss variations that kick your ass until you figure out the shooting style that lets you get comfortable to deal with them. Some even force you to stop shooting for a bit (like the waterfall boss. If you destroy his "metal umbrellas" right before his fullscreen attack, you’re dead). The rewind mechanic is an option, as always with these ports, but this one is pretty manageable without it! Infinite continue is a must, though. Definitely a challenge. Check it out when it's cheap!
Amazing! This is how retro games should be done. Great new features like rewind and other options. I played this in the arcades in Japan. It was so hard l could never complete it. Now l can and l loved every minute of it. Brings back great memories. Highly recommended.
Best played with a friend
Runs well on OSX M2. Only works on Apple silicon. What a beautiful game with great music. 10/10
