Recommended ✔️
As a casual player with limited time after work, I had a very enjoyable experience with PETRACAL. At first, coming from God of War (2018), the graphical contrast felt noticeable and even a bit negative, but as you progress, the atmosphere, art direction, and cohesive presentation quickly win you over. It’s a great example of how indie games don’t need cutting-edge graphics to be effective. The tutorial feels very forgiving, even limiting some mechanics to guide the player, which initially made the game feel too easy. However, once the game truly starts, resource management becomes important very quickly. Overconfidence will get you lost, out of supplies, and force a restart. Learning to manage resources, plan your route, and mentally map the levels becomes both necessary and rewarding. The game gradually introduces new mechanics and expands its levels, creating an old-school survival feeling where reaching your goal with limited resources is genuinely satisfying. Exploration, getting lost, and relying on your own sense of orientation are core parts of the experience. Petracal it´s a simple game when you first see it and a little unnerving when you know about it´s concept; when i tried it, i got in an atmosphere of pressure and being in an unknown territory, the game knows how to use its resources to make the levels in the game be challenging and require you to use the tools you are given in a somewhat strategic way, it´s rather short but it is kind of fun as a little puzzle game. P.S.: Also a great Sergio Martinez simulator, props to the model for the character.4 found this helpful
Great atmosphere. Very scary stuff2 found this helpful
I had the chance to play Petracal in the demo, and it's constantly improved, making the game more atmospheric and, of course, more challenging. Having to deal with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ while crawling through a cave was terrifying (but nothing a few cigarettes couldn't fix). I really enjoyed it; I hope they continue to update it and add more levels. Me gustó mucho ojalá sigan las actualizaciones y más niveles.2 found this helpful
If you like indie, horror, and challenging games, this is for you. PETRACAL knows its essence and executes its intentions well. You'll be terrified before you know it, you'll feel lost in the map mirroring the madness of the character you're playing as, and when you finally find the exit in each level, the feeling of relief makes it all worthwhile and pushes you to continue into the next challenge.1 found this helpful
