A short and very simple game about a father and daughter traveling together. As they travel along the road, dialogues between the two protagonists are echoed, which will certainly help us get to know them better. There are multiple responses, so we can choose what to say, which changes the route traveled and the ending. Every time you stop, you can admire the scenery and complete the puzzle by adding the missing pieces. Don't like the pink car? No problem; you can change it to other colors and models from the menu. The game can be replayed as many times as you like, and there's an album where you can see all the places you've visited and play the puzzles. The music is very pleasant to listen to. [h1]It's the journey, not the destination[/h1] [i]Sunset Drive[/i] is a visual novel/jigsaw hybrid with a cosy atmosphere. We play as the third-person looking in on a young city couple on a lengthy road trip to watch the sunset at the beach, experiencing their conversations, banter and quiet moments in the car during stretches on an animated road in between picturesque stops. Every so often, two or three conversation options are presented for the male character/driver, and through these, the stops made along the way may alter and ultimately lead to a different, and apparently emotionally rewarding ending. When the car makes a stop, the game mode shifts to that of a jigsaw, initially presented as a faint scenic picture with clearly blank spots in which to place a series of loose pieces, offered a few at a time in a row at the bottom of the screen. Successfully placing one will see it replaced with a new one not previously visible, until there are less pieces remaining than will fit in the available display area at the bottom of the scene being shown. These scenes are delightfully brought to life using a paint-on-canvas style which is a perfect fit for the game's ambie…

Gentle drive into the sunset, visual novel style game, sounds simple right? Sure. But I feel that the journey and quiet reflection along the way was why I kept going. This is exactly the kind of game I would play when I want to kick back, relax, and enjoy the beautifully drawn art.

Cozy game about road trip to play with your spouse. Suddenly your spouse asking for real trip instead of the digital one 🤣 Played in Steam Deck and PC, for Steam Deck, need to update the control especially for the puzzle.

* I would like to thank Klapanom Games for providing a review copy of this game * Sunset Drive is a heartwarming and emotional narrative experience that takes the gamer on an apparently cozy road trip along several stops particularly meaningful for the young couple you play as and with. I HIGHLY recommend playing the game until all 8 scenarios/detours are unlocked and you get the true ending. You will realize how this experience is way deeper than what initially thought, and it will make you reflect and ponder in a way you didn't think possible in such a cozy game. In terms of gameplay, it's more of a visual novel, with light elements of challenge provided by jigsaw puzzle minigames you have to complete in between chapters to unlock beautiful pictures of the scenarios explored. Yet, the bulk of the adventure is choosing dialogue options to unlock one of the multiple endings. I think the game would benefit from a saving system, as well as from some proofreading of the English script, but it is well crafted, with a beautiful hand-drawn art style and pleasant music.
