About Death Drive

There isn’t much you need for a road trip, just a car, the road, and enough snacks to get you through. Whether it takes days or weeks, as long as you keep going, you’ll reach your final destination. You just have to keep driving. You aren’t running away from something, but you might be running towards something.People say road trips are better with company; you’ve never really agreed. Still, you ended up with company—it seems like Helia, a strange woman you picked up along the way, means to stay with you for the entire trip.                               At least you’ll have someone to talk to.                        Death Drive is a visual novel that takes place entirely inside your trusty jalopy as you make the trip across the country from your hometown to the ocean's shore. With only your dark thoughts and a mysterious hitchhiker you met along the way for company, you must navigate the interstate highways to your final destination, making decisions, defining your character in dialogue, and encountering increasingly strange and haunting events.

It's a nice little short game. I remember hearing it be recommended by some youtuber I think but I can't remember who. The sound design is good and the art is good. The feeling of not knowing what is real and what isn't is also quite good. I will say though it is repetitive when playing it again as the dialogue options don't affect each other but that isn't that major of an issue, it is a small free game.

The game is short and sweet. It doesn't really have that much replay value but it has some good voice acting and very nice art to it. Story is alright, maybe a little too vague, but I enjoyed it for what it was. A free game is a free game.
Will you fall to the enticing surface or see it through for its deeper meaning?
This is the language this game speaks in for the most part. This game treats you to beautiful metaphors & stimulants of different types & forms & then it speaks through them so will you hear what the game has to say? Or will you get distracted by the stimulants? From the get go & on the game's Steam page here, you're promised the company of an interesting goth girl (Hilya) & thrilling mysterious elements of Lovecraftian & psychological horror. What initially attracted me was the latter (the Lovecraftian themes) rather than the former. However, as I sat with the game & had a heart to heart talk to it as I read it, what I realized had me decide to play through it a few more times to hear more of what it had to say through different routes & endings. On a surface level reading & on a first impression, you may think this game is a shorter Saya no Uta minus the pdfile vibes. However, as you go further into the game, you realize, this game has major core differences when compared to Saya No Uta. This VN is less about you romancing the monster & more about taking a look within. Hilya is a p…
