What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players are divided on whether this is actually a game at all. Most criticism centers on the lack of meaningful gameplay, with reviewers noting it's more of an interactive short film or extended cutscene than a traditional game—though some appreciate it as a free, half-hour experience with intriguing atmosphere and story potential. A small number of players praise the mysterious tone, graphics, and sound design, though even supporters acknowledge the preface is brief and leave wanting more substantial gameplay in future installments.

Hidden Protector : ROADTRIP (Preface) is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, Hidden Protector : ROADTRIP (Preface) is a software application that This garbage software is a demo/advert for a non-interactive 3D rendered video. Let's ask the question... are videos games? Did you ever watch Terminator 2 on VHS and then say "Wow, what a great game I just played!" You didn't? Yes, because videos aren't games. The fact the producer didn't even bother making the rest of the video says a lot. But we have to ask... what value is there for this incomplete non-game garbage being dumped on Steam for gamers? None. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks…2 found this helpful

I got roped into this game by the name, since I really love games that involve long journeys but I'm not quite sure if this is it. I might just be stupid but I came into this thinking there'd be more gameplay. It's definitely more a interactive short film than a game. The road trip aspect was there only visually, rather than in gameplay. As for the story itself, it didn't really catch me. That's all I'll say. That said, this is a neat free experience that can be finished in half an hour or less so I can't be too critical. If there was a follow up to this that was longer and got more in-depth into the ideas brought up here, I'd definitely be interested.1 found this helpful
"Hidden Protector: ROADTRIP (Preface)" — захватывающий пролог, сочетающий интригующий сюжет, динамичный геймплей и неожиданные повороты. Игра мастерски передаёт атмосферу таинственности, сочетая элементы приключений, головоломок и детектива. Графика и звуковое сопровождение удачно дополняют настроение, а управление интуитивно понятно. Хотя пролог короток, он оставляет яркое впечатление и жажду продолжения. Рекомендую фанатам жанра — отличная основа для будущих частей.
the entire game is a cutscene 🥀💔
