ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard

I'm getting tired of these games that change gameplay halfway through. If you start with logic puzzles, don't make it a platformer in the second half. I'm giving up at the basketball level, because you can't skip that part, I can't make it work, it's not at all about logic, and all the bouncing is making me sick. Mind you, that was not the first annoying thing at this point. Some levels are just a string of puzzles attached together, and there are very very few save points. It's a pity because the game is technically good, has some decent puzzles, nice settings. But for some reason, level designers wanted to have fun themselves, not considering that players at this point might not. Hey, it's okay to mix genres! Just be honest and do it from the start.

[b]Finally, another proper test chamber game![/b] [i]ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard[/i] does its job really well. Although there were definitely a few moments where I had to stop and wonder: "What on earth were the developers thinking here?" For anyone unfamiliar with the first game: in ChromaGun, you were trapped inside a series of test chambers by Richard, a completely unhinged guy who puts you through increasingly elaborate color-based puzzles. Your main tool is the ChromaGun, which lets you paint surfaces using the three primary colors - and mix them as well. By matching colors, you can magnetically attract WorkerDroids and move them onto buttons to open doors, activate platforms, and trigger all kinds of other mechanisms. In colorblind mode, you see three symbols, a triangle, an “I,” and a circle, alongside the colors. This works just as fantastically. ChromaGun 2 pretty much picks up where the first game left off. Apparently, we still haven't managed to escape the building and once again find ourselves inside the test chambers of ChromaTec's laboratories. Early on, the game even asks you a few questions about the events of the first game. Thankfully, that part doesn't last…

Absolutely incredible game. Was really engaged with it start to finish. It had some HUGE levels compared to first one, that could have used a better checkpointing system, but overall is not that big of a deal. Also soft-locking yourself, compared to first game, basically is impossible, which was a major frustration point I had with the first game. Story is nice, vibes are cool. Good game.

I enjoyed the game; the puzzles are interesting. I find solving them satisfying—everything is logical. However, there were two downsides. First, I had to turn off the chatter halfway through; it was unbearably distracting. There’s this female robot with sadistic tendencies who just won't stop yapping. I think someone was trying to copy the *Portal* style, but in that game, the dialogue was measured and actually made you smile. Here, it's mostly irritating. And secondly, a couple of times I got stuck after a bad jump and had to restart the entire level. It’s a minor issue, but a bug nonetheless.

in general a good portal clone, + I liked the puzzle design, it's clever and never scary hard + the game introduces new mechanics constantly and keeps everything fresh + I didn't face any glitches + it never overstays its welcome, 6-8 hours and it ends on a high note +/- the story is literally portal 2 story with "multiverse" elements, it does not add a lot to your experience and it feels like something out of the early 2010s - some puzzles gets you soft locked, I got it multiple times and the only solution is to re play the entire stage instead of just a section, it's really weird that these things weren't noticed during testing - some puzzle rooms are waaay too big and you don't know what the objective is! I found myself multiple times overwhelmed and doing random things just to see if any clue would appear to guide me to the objective, it feels like searching for the objective sometimes is a puzzle of itself - the collectables could have used better rewards for the player, even something as silly as a skin would've made collecting them more rewarding
