Chromocide: Prism of Sin

Graphics: 4/10 • It looks boring despite having a nice color palette and consistent art direction. • The blue human thing on the capsule art feels amateurish, though the title text is pretty cool. • Every enemy looks the same. • Every bullet is the same size and color. Audio: ?/10 • The BGM feels like it's a horror game, unless that’s what the dev intended. Gameplay: 6/10 • The best part of the game. It’s challenging, fair, fast-paced, but it somehow feels too easy? I don’t even know how to play properly yet, but I won on my first try, it was unexpected. • Enemy bullet patterns are boring and too fast to be interesting. Maybe mix in some slower but denser patterns. • There aren’t any cool abilities like slow time, dash, teleport, rapid fire, barriers, charge shots, AOE, exploding shots, ricochet, parry, etc. Font: 0/10 • It looks cool, but I stopped reading after the first minute, it's so hard to read, like the hardest font to read ever.

This game has way more depth than I expected. It's also brutally difficult. There is a lot of heavily thematic story. It is kinda a multitasking challenge to keep up with matching color with the enemies while dodging their attacks. Especially once enemies start changing colors, too. You have a "veil" you can throw up for a second to delete all bullets (right click). You can shift your hue with space/alt or the mouse wheel. You attack with left click and aim with the mouse. You move with WASD. I haven't tried the controller support, but that sounds way better! Everything has like cooldowns, ranges, reload timers, speeds, and there's upgrades for all of that and the main upgrade system is color coded. So I can make my reload fastest when I'm magenta, then when I run out of ammo I want to shift magenta so I can reload faster. But maybe I want to be yellow, since that's where I put my armor upgrades? Major negatives are that it seems like it could use some revisions and the text is almost painful to read. I'm hoping it gets some updates.

Extremely love the whole idea of the game. Innovative, interesting, makes you think and of course it is very fun to play. Takes a little time to learn it for sure. I just completed my first whole run and it felt so rewarding! If you are looking for a unique action roguelite, you need Chromocide!
