About Perennial Dusk -Kinsenka-

The human heart is but a vessel for pain.“Perennial Dusk -Kinsenka-” is a kinetic novel about how the human heart endures relentless violence and limitless cruelty. In a world where the living and the dead mingle, a group of exorcists-in-training faces horrific beings known as Maledicts. Though doomed to be mangled, gutted, and desolated by grief, they strive for whatever happiness they can find beneath the unwaning sunset.

“Perennial Dusk -Kinsenka-” features:

 • An intricate story about persevering through the horrors of a merciless world.
 • A script written by Yukito Urushibara ("Irotoridori no Sekai").
 • Vibrant character designs and illustrations by Saine (VTuber character designer for "Kamishiro Kurea", "Watagashi Unou", and "Hoshikage Lapis").
 • A stunning soundtrack, comprising tracks composed by Fuminori Matsumoto (“Wonderful Everyday ~Diskontinuierliches Dasein~”) and Hitoshi Fujima from Elements Garden (“Grisaia” series).
 • 1920x1080 resolution support.
 • Manaka Iwami (Akane, “Oshi no Ko”) as the voice actor of both the soft-spoken Benio Matsuri and her boisterous alter-ego, Nobody.
 • Yumiri Hanamori (Yuka, “Blue Period”) and Shuta Morishima (Shin Nitta, “Cardfight!! Vanguard”) as the voice actors of the two male leads.

Story

Tachibana Sai lives only to protect his sister from harm, often resorting to lethal means to do so. Weary of the persistent numbness in his heart, he welcomes the prospect of death... That is, until a fateful meeting with Matsuri fills him with a searing pain.Upon Sai joining their ranks as the newest resident, the ill-assorted group of exorcists-in-training and their reckless mentor find a home together in an old apartment building.A ruthless boy who knows no pain in his heart.A lonely girl without any friends.A friendly girl who struggles to make connections.A prickly, ambitious girl who is keen to be of help.A boy who loves his own cute self above anything else.A mess of a woman who tries to solve everything through brute force. And a boy with a tender heart who knows no pain in his body.Bathed in the light of an everlasting sunset, they begin to experience contentment for the first time in their miserable lives. Yet, with their occupation leading to increasingly vicious foes, they are doomed to violent deaths.

✦ AI summary

Players praise Kinsenka's compelling setting and atmosphere, the writer's consistent quality with previous works, and the fully linear kinetic novel structure that appeals to those who dislike branching paths. However, they criticize the pacing as inconsistent—too long and dragging in places—and the ending as unsatisfying with unanswered questions, leaving some feeling the game would have benefited from being shorter and tighter in execution.
Dark vn about crazy maniacs?
First of all. Frontwing, thank you for translating your vns to english on release. You are best in this regard. Kinsenka is long visual novel without choices. Just this fact alone is enough for me to like it. I am not a fan of choices and different routes in visual novels. Kinsenka have same scenario writer as Irotoridori No Sekai (which I like very much). And you can see similarities.
There is godlike character who talk, guide and help dead lifes (souls) reborn in their next life; character in love with idea of love itself; trolling, strong, but lazy adult girl; flying feathers and even parasite butterfly in head.
But overall mood is different. It was very interesting reading. There is brutality and gore. Sometimes it was hard to fully understand the rules and peculiarities of this world. There is a lot of repetitive lines telling same things again. But I don’t mind it, because thanks for that, important information gets stuck in my head more and I don’t forget about it. More than half of the vn takes place in flashbacks, in which we learn about backstory of all characters. Some people don’t like flashbacks, but I p…

You couldn't be far from that reality as this Kinetic Novel is a deep exploration into the fragility of the Human Heart, Its Psychological Complexities & Reflecting on Continued Living. (There are hardly any Combat x Fighting or Ghost Hunting related scenario's) But this Dark Tale actually killed my drive to Read Visual Novels for the last 3-months & I've been dreading writing my review for this title, because I do not think for the length of time you spend(Trust no reviews under 40hrs) here, will make up for the following:
Review Highlights

[th]Issues[/th] [th]Explained[/th]

Length - 40-50hrs This is a Kinetic…

Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka is a visual novel written by Yukito Urushibara, who wrote Irotoridori no Sekai and Hikari (which I consider flawed masterpieces), and piqued my interest when it got announced. This all-ages (17+) visual novel is fully linear with a five-chapter structure, unlike the typical route style. Sadly, I find Kinsenka a mixed bag—surpassing the Irotoridori series in a few aspects but falling short of its potential to be Urushibara’s best work (Haven’t read Sakura Moyu yet but now simultaneously interested and scared to). It’s a decent at best visual novel with standout moments but hampered by significant flaws.
Setting and Themes
The Twilight Prison, a mystical realm holding memories of deceased souls, is the VN’s most compelling element. This setting facilitates thought-provoking scenarios, such as being able to view people’s memories with permission, and heavily emphasizes reincarnation, a theme consistent with the writer. The concept of Maledicts—magical beings ranging from harmless shadows to malevolent entities that possess people or roam as spirits—adds depth. Curse Bearers, humans who wield these spirits’ powers, gives the story a unique magical …

I wasn't going to write a review for this but after seeing the ending, I feel like I need to do so. As for the general stuffs of the novel, it had already been stated at the description and several other reviews already made their way through it so I'm going to skip the basic stuffs and move on with how i really feel for this VN. I will try to spoiler-free with my review as much as possible so if anyone could read this and decide for themselves, this is for you. First of all, "Perennial Dusk -Kinsenka-" is one work that had been on my radar for a while but i kept forgetting it as this was not the kind of work I like to read, so I am grateful for the sales to finally push me to buy this novel. And do I regret with my purchase, knowing this is not the kind of work I usually read? No. Absolutely not, for I love this novel with all my heart. First of all, why did this even appeal me even it's not the kind I like in the first place? Because this is Frontwing, I have read several of their works so yes, I have faith in their product. Secondly, for very obvious reasons, the art, it's gorgeous beyond words. And finally, I read and thought this was the premise of a bittersweet love …
