Mashina is a relaxing exploration and mining adventure built around the simple pleasure of digging beneath the earth, finding useful materials, and bringing those discoveries back to improve a small community of robots. Developed by Talha and Jack Co, J. King-Spooner, and Talha Kaya, and published by Judatone Studios, it takes familiar resource-gathering ideas and gives them a distinctive identity through handcrafted visuals, stop-motion-inspired animation, and a warm retro-futuristic atmosphere. Rather than turning mining into a stressful survival challenge, the game encourages players to explore at their own pace and enjoy the gradual transformation of the world around them. The basic gameplay loop revolves around taking Mashina underground and searching for minerals, treasures, useful objects, and other secrets. Radar helps locate interesting targets hidden beneath the surface, giving excavation a little more direction than simply digging randomly. Resources must be carried in Mashina's backpack and deposited at the underground base, creating a satisfying rhythm of exploration, collection, returning home, and preparing for another trip. This game is a thing of beauty. It's a rare case of a game that manages to be irresistably joious without making it feel like that joy is in any way artificial or heavy handed. These robots are just so happy to be there and do what they do, even if the world they live in is quite messy. They feel inspiring in their clunky, beautiful way. The gameplay loop too manages to strike quite the perfect balance. These kind of game often feel empty, like you're grinding just for the sake of it, but this one manage to have a very nice rhytm, always giving you something new and exciting, so that real repetition or frustration never sets in. Add the, frankly, stunning visual style, cute writing and wholeome story and honestly you've got a gem here. I love this game. If any of this sounds interesting, please give it a try, it's so worth your time and money.

The gameplay is a barebones digging simulator that takes about 6 hours but the art style is fantastic. Almost every asset in this game was handcrafted and scanned into the game. I'd buy it at full price just to support the incredible creative process.

An absolute treasure of a game. I'm going to be recommending this to as many people as I can. Interesting and delightful characters, fun gameplay, and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. I'm going to be following these two devs very intently in the future. Really, please release the soundtrack. It's incredible. Cue cue-m bear! A bear bear cue!
